The BNB affiliates thread!

Post by bradavon »

Considering only 4-5 people post in the "Future of BnB" forum I thought I'd post this here.

Toge how about getting some affiliates going? Such as this at The DVD Forums:

http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/show ... p?t=331982

I thought we could list some website which would be useful to have a Bullets affiliate. I'm still using the ones Jenz set up but as he is now AWOL I may as well give it to the new BnB Webmaster.

CD WOW, Amazon, Yesasia and Play would be a good place to start.

Yeah thats' a good idea. :) You mean a "Support us by buying with these links" type of thing? In that case I'd definitely include CD-WOW and Amazon.

Yep. I'd assume it's easy for Mordib to setup and can only help the forum.

well back when I had high hopes for resurrecting reviews , news and comps etc i was going to put them up and put the money towards either comps or review disks, i imagine it would take nearly a year to even get one disk at the present level... still, i will look into them! :)

you'll never guess what i've finally done... i've sorted out an affiliate account with cd-wow. Now we just need to decide what sort of links we want on the site

the following are the types of link they suggest, plus they have a stack of buttons etc should we have any use for them:

http://www.cd-wow.com/index.php?affid=13858

Link to specific pages E.G.

Chart CD:

http://www.cd-wow.com/index.php?affid=13858

DVD

http://www.cd-wow.com/index_2.php?affid=13858

Games

http://www.cd-wow.com/index_3.php?affid=13858

Product deep link: http://www.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2. ... ffid=13858

if we ever actually made any money through it (which im pretty sure giving our small size we wont) then it shall be plowed back in, either through paying for a bit of advertisng to enlarge the userbase or little comps for individual discs, general mob opinion will decide ;)

any other sites we could affiliate to that you can think of whilst im in a proactive mood?

Good man. Now how do you arrange one of those £1 voucher links? That would make the site stacks.

I see you've kept the existing Bullets code. How did have issues with the new owner?

I'd suggest all of them but this one being the main one (this is a DVD site after all):

http://www.cd-wow.com/index_2.php?affid=13858

I use these links anyway.

Play now offer an affiliate scheme.

Amazon too of course. I'd start with the big boys.

they were cool about it all, i've been chatting with a nice lady from their marketing department about us and the goings on over the move of the site to my control.

given the plans i had this evening have now been cancelled ( :( ) i will look into play now. I have already done the deed with amazon, but am slowly sifting through what has got to be one of the more complicated afiliate programs (we dont seem to just have a simple code).s

don't panic, I've only put it up there to see what people think. it can be taken down just as quick.... ;)

for those of you waking up with hangovers without a clue what im talking about (Bisc :P) i'm talking about the cdwow search box a the top of the site... we're now affiliated as it were...

Nice idea, I'd only use it if it provided us with 1 pound discounts though. I have cd-wow setup as a Firefox keyword search anyway.

Any chance of making the dark blue light blue?

If you look at most of the vouchers in the e-tailors thread the affiliate code is already the Bullets one:

http://www.cd-wow.com/promotion.php?pro ... ffid=13858

But as the voucher isn't a Bullets voucher I've no idea if this actually means Bullets gets the money.

I will have to check their rules about changing the colour of their graphics.. as Bradavon says you will need to use the promo links to get the money off bt as far as the sites afiliation goes its pretty much the same as using the search box, its just cheaper for you ;)

To clarify Mordib these voucher links will affiliate to Bullets? I've never been sure as I bastardised them by adding the Bullets code.

Isn't the 12774 also an affiliate code, no?

If we use the search box then how much will the discount we get be? If it's 1 pound or more then I'll use it.

Nothing.

Mordib is saying if you use the £1 voucher link above (which is the same as the one in the e-tailors thread) you will ALSO be helping Bullets BECAUSE I've added the Bullets affiliate code of 13858 to the end of it.

I didn't know it was this simple.

to my knowledge we have only one code (that theyve told me about) 13858, the other code is the promotional code for the one pound off.

using the search box does not give a discount. so to get the £1 off kep using the promo codes.

On closer analysis i'm not sure the affiliate code on the promotions work as the promotional code is actually the affiliate code of the company that originally got the discount. still, it doesn't hurt to try, you still get your pound off! :)

My personal view is that the seach box is ugly as hell, unless i can find a better way of integraing it into the site I may just go for individual product links or something similar.
