Shingster wrote:Useful for those US TV shows that aren't broadcast over here (or broadcast badly or way too late), plus with the cost of terabyte & multiple terabyte portable hard drives falling all the time you can get an application like Makemkv and extract DVDs/BDs to lossless mkv files and store the films on hard drives to save considerable space. Bit of a godsend if you've got a film collection that goes past a thousand titles like me! :D
I don't really watch much TV or have a portable hard drive.

My BD collection isn't in the thousands either (are there that many movies you're likely to rewatch?)

I accept that if you DO watch a lot of imported TV and/or have a GIGANTIC film collection file playback is an essential component.

No there many titles I won't ever revisit and probably a fair few I haven't even watched yet that I may never get round to, but I like having a film library at my disposal and 90% of the stuff are DVDs with no real resale value above 50p, so I never really could be arsed to prune the collection. I'm being more picky when it comes to BD collection, but bit by bit it's starting to grow, so I've been extracting a lot of DVDs to Hard Drive now alongside some Blu-rays as well. The only problem I have is with the mkv playback issues of my Blu-ray player, which I need to try and figure out a cause/fix for eventually I suppose.

I find a portable hard drive very useful for taking films round a friend's house as well when they have film nights, especially when you have a lot of Region A Blu-rays that they can't play! I do this quite a lot actually!

I expect the quality is on a par with Joy Sales releases.

I'll pick up Avenging Force as soon as I can find it for a decent price.
Mark does the Joy Sales suffer from PAL-to-NSTC conversion? I'm watching the R1 release right now and it seems to have some possibly some motion sickness (conversion, interlaced?)

I honestly don't know. It's been a few years since I saw it (a copy). I'd consider buying it if it weren't OOP. All of the Joy Sales DVDs I've seen have been PAL conversions -- so unless anyone knows any different?

Thanks. The R1 looks like it, it just isn't as bad as some I've seen. Now I had no problems with the subtitles from Shout! so I'm thinking these are new from what I've read on the Joy Sales release.

Thanks. I figured the transfer would look the same. There is color fade out several times in the film.

It would be great to hear your opinion on the quality of this. I'm sure at least 1 version was remastered in 2K? :? (I ordered one of the Steelbooks).

Really? That's a shame. I always prefer to sell/trade to fellow forum users. I guess we're all different. I think Sam buys so many discs that he needs a way to fund them. :D

i'm not a charity. i'm not going to sell something here for a fiver when i can get triple that on ebay/Amazon..hence economics.i really don't buy many discs nowadays, the ones i do i fund by moving on ones i no longer consider keepers.as i've said new stuff i hardly bother with, for example i've got over £100 in cex vouchers collecting dust here, can't find anything i want to use them on.

For all they know he might have been arrested! Selling hooky copies of Drunken Master on BD with Twilight Time release in the works is probably a risky business tbh! :o

In all likelihood it's probably one of three scenarios:

1. He's struggling to cope with demand (as Salty mentioned over on KFC).
2. His computer's gone tits up and he hasn't sorted out the replacement yet.
3. He's buggered off on holiday for a couple of weeks without informing customers (this happened to me with multiregion magic when I sent them a Sony BD player to be modded, no contact for about a month, I was less that pleased and was threatening legal action by the end of it! :D).

It's also possible that he's done a runner with the cash, can't think he'd be sitting on a gold mine though tbh from just the KFC fanbase!

Having some major trouble with the DDD House site, every time I try to get to the checkout page after selecting my address I get a FATAL ERROR message. Grrr

On May 4 I got an email from HKR:

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I've been having some pretty bad computer trouble the past week and a half which really screwed up my whole operation here. Everything has been sent but it was sent a few days later than I otherwise would have sent it had I not had computer problems.

You should definitely receive it this week. Sorry about the delay

............

Nothing this week, maybe they'll come early next week. I hope all is OK with him now

that's code for "i've bitten off more than i can chew" anyway why did you buy Hard Boiled off him yet again? he's just added a few extras to a second disc.As you'd only just bought the first release off him i'm sure he'd have done disc 2 for a couple of dollars :dontknow:
