When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 115m 53s.
To obtain this category cuts were required but details are not available

At the time of classification United Artists Corp. Ltd was the distributor of this film.

Is the R1 best to get, as its' anamorphic (unlike the R2).

who says the region 2 is non-anamorphic? rewind says it is though the box wrongly states 1.66.1. anyway to be sure go for the region 1 it has slightly more extras and can be had cheaply ( $7.95 at pacific) :)

I am not confirming anything just saying dont beleve a word dvdcompare say, look for real reviews or someone who actually has the dvd, never trust dvdcompare as they get a lot totally wrong. I have bought a few dvds going from what dvdcompare said and they were not anamorphic like they said they were, so now I dont listen to them at all.

I seriously doubt the UK video releases are still cut.

Me too, except it was pre-cut in 1958 (when submitted it ran 116 minutes), which is exactly the same as the R1 version is now. The BBFC make no mention of "Previous cuts waived" or "UK cinema version as cut" :? Look at other films like some of the old Bonds that were pre-cut in the day, they have stayed cut.

The R2 DVD will have been sourced from the same print as the R1.

The reason the older Bonds are cut is because they were censored BEFORE being shipped to America. If the likes of Goldfinger had been released uncut in US theatres we'd be seeing it like that now.
