Chinatown/Alternative Medicine

Post by grim_tales »

Did anyone see these programmes on TV on Tuesday night?

The first one was about the experience of Chinese people living in Britain and the various Chinatowns. A little boy named Song was sent to live in England with his other family (I think?), he had a little pouch with some soil from his village in it, and everyone had to mix it with hot water and drink it (!) To be fair, I could see a few people wretching there!
His grandmother told him "Never forget you are Chinese".

The next one looked at acupuncture (sp) and whether it worked or not, part of the programme showed a woman who had an open heart surgery operation using acupuncture (!) without a general anisthetic, and amazingly. she was all right after a couple of days or so, telling her sister about it.
Doesn't it close the viens or nerve endings or something, so you can't move/don't feel pain?
They showed this in OUATIC 2 when a needle was put in a patients leg, when he was tapped on the knee, he couldn't move his leg.
