Vroom-vroom anybody ?

Post by tom2681 »

With the F1 season about to start, I was wondering if anybody was into any kind of motorsports.

Personally I've been a F1 fan since 1993, and I've always been following other similar series (GP2 (ex-F3000), A1GP, F3).

Anybody else ?
(or am I just talking to a bunch of deaf football ears ?) :D

I like a little Rally but tbh I find virtually all sport uber boring.

I may (and that's a slim may) watch the World cup, say one match if England go far but otherwise it's all boring and takes over TV which I hate.

I have little patriotic bollocks to my country and don't care if they win or lose quite frankly. I didn't find out who won the last World Cup until about 2 weeks after it was over and didn't care. I was in Thailand at the time.

p.s - That said I'd LOVE to watch this live:

I'm not a crazed football fan (what's soccer? Nope not heard of that one. Is it some weird American word? :D)

The only soccer I ever watch is the World Cup and the European Cup (and since recently the Asian Cup). I don't care which team wins. I'm always for the underdogs. I was so happy seeing South Korea getting so far at last year's World Cup.

Apart from that I only watch martial arts demonstrations when they are on Euro News or so.

Wrestling is cool as well.

lots of fast cars going round & round in circles
No that's IRL, Champcar and Nascar.
F1 tracks aren't round. :D
what's the point ?
-Watching the best drivers in the world driving the best cars in the world to the limit in every corner.
-Witnessing the future before your very eyes. Most of the technology that you find today in F1 will end up in your car one day (that's how ABS, Turbo and active suspensions started).
-Strategy. Calculating the optimum pit window to try and take the lead in the pits.
-Listening to the loudest and most powerful engines (19000 rpm, 1000 BHorsePower).
-Overtaking at over 200 mph.
-Watching Schumacher and Alonso fight for victory for 12 laps.
-Discovering new circuits, new places, new pitbabes. :D

On this page you'll find many video tributes that, IMO, represent the essence of F1 racing.

I like the concept of A1 (that's the World Cup of motorsports, isn't it?) Everyone has the same model of car, and it comes down to individual skill as to who comes out on top. I say I like the concept, as I have yet to watch an entire race. I'm sorry, but I have literally ended up falling asleep playing the endurance races on Gran Turismo; I wake up if my pad has been rumbling for some time. Merely watching a race has no chance! :D

I've watched a few A1GP races. It's fun but full of newbie drivers (lots of silly accidents). :D

Silly accidents, eh? Might have to make an effort, as long as they remain silly and non-deadly.
