There's a massive clearence of R1 Sony over at deepdiscountdvd.com. All or most of titles are going OOP, so be in quick All for $5.98USD. ALOT of quality Asian, foreign and indy films in the lot.

I've ordered:-
Cronenberg's Spider SE (Best release available, aside from the R4 and Canadian R1 which are identical).
DePalma's Obsession (R2UK release doesn't have original mono)
Zhang Yimou's Happy Times
Luc Besson's Subway
Returner (subtitled extras)
Time & Tide (has exclusive Tsui Hark commentary)
Goodbye Lenin (terrific German drama-comedy)
The Sea Is Watching (some Japanese drama that uses a script by Kurosawa)

It's now back up to over £7.99 after postage.

Great find there Eva I've only just had a chance to go through the list and went for:

* Big Girls Don't Cry (I hear it's a German "Fucking Amal")
* Goodbye Lenin! (Another example of the UK DVD getting shafted by Fox & given great treatment by Columbia Tristar)
* Spider (great thriller)
* Happy Times

I almost went for:

Beijing Bicycle - But decided four DVDs was enough
Returner - This had VERY mixed reviews. It looks okay but very unoriginal so I didn't bother

£17 delivered which works out at £4.25 each.

I also grabbed from that Deepdiscountdvd Sony sale:-
Carandiru
Beijing Bicycle
Timecode (From director Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas), an entirely adlibed (non-scripted) experimental film shot on 4 simultaneous DV cameras in real time. I saw it on telly and enjoyed it).

Also some cheapies on cd-wow all 4.99 pounds:-
R2 Godfather 1-3, R2 Top Gun SE, R2 The Warriors DC, R2 No Direction Home (the Martin Scorsese-directed doco on Bob Dylan. If it's anything like The Last Waltz - his doco on The Band, then it should be excellent).

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith for £7.99 at Sainsburys, Devizes, Wiltshire.

It's also that price at Play at the moment. I picked it up, it's holds up surprisingly well against the original trilogy. It's such a shame Lucas bodged up The Phantom Menace so much. Attack of the Clones is decent fun but Revenge of the Sith is really good.

Iron Monkey Platinum Edition is £7.99 in Play's sale. They've also got quite a few others in an asian movie sale. Millionaire's Express HKL for £5.99 is not bad either.

If the Matrix box set was that price I'd pick it up but for 8 DVDs I'm not hugely interested in, it's currently to much. I certainly have little interest in the last 4 discs (i.e - the non-2 Disc Film SE ones).

Man I wish they'd release a Matrix: 2 Disc SE!

Hell yes. That remaster from the ultimate boxset looks lovely. Warner are really cheating themselves out of alot of cash by not releasing it separately, since there's alot of people who thought the sequels were rubbish.

I'd also like to get the R1 Animatrix for the original Japanese tracks, a few of those short films were made by anime masters like Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo). You ought to see Cowboy Bebop and the film Brad, great fun series. Samurai Champloo is supposed to be very good too, I haven't seen it yet though.
