Lone Wolf and Cub Boxset for £20 Thai Release

Post by slasher13 »

Got this from SexGoreMutant Website:
I just got through the new 6 DVD box set of the Baby Cart series from Thailand (remastered uncut anamorphic widescreen with optional English subtitles) - just had a wee peek at the set and it looks great.

For those of you likeminded bloodshed fans you might want to place an order soon (before it inevitably goes OOP and ends up on Ebay at extortionate prices)...you can get it here for around £20 (shipping included)...

http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=22022

They're even offering a wee discount until the end of March...bargain of the month
When asked about the subtitles and A/V, here was the following reply:
The English subtitles are excellent (most thorough I've seen in ages, full production listings, both the English title along with the literal translation title, nice and clear). Picture quality is stunning, pin sharp - nice 2 channel Japanese audio. Each disc comes in own amaray case in box. Absolutley no extras though (no trailers etc) but I'm more than happy at the cost price - plan to start watching through them all at the weekend

Are they identical to the R1's AV wise Slasher? :) If so I may trade my R1s and get this Thai release.

I haven't recieved the dvds yet, but when I do, I will try and compare. But apparently the A/V are very good from what I have read in the other forums. I'm already selling my Region 1 dvds :)

Sorry to hear that. Ethai said they would mark the box as $24 or lower, or something like that.

Hehe no problem, Checking the picture image, it is pretty cool, but it a toss up between this and the R1. I have uploaded a screenie from powerdvd for you to check. There are no filters at all.

What do you think. The audio is very very good, and subtitles are excellent translation and pretty cool to read.

Hmm... the face looks to be a bit too thing/horizontally squashed?
What colour are the subs?
Does the box it comes in look good? Collectors Item?

@grim_tales
Well mine was just marked as 6 dollar and it was labelled as a gift item rather than DVD. Hopefully the same will be done with yours as well

I agree about the face, will check it on the TV, as i think i have a problem with my PC setup.

The sub colours are white with black outlines and are pretty large and readable. Not small at all

The box holds 6 amary cases, it is just a cardboard box, pretty weak. I wouldn't thought it being a collector items. The artwork is pretty cool on it, but since it done on cardboard, it may tear later on. However the dvds are in their own six cases and the artwork on that is good.

The main menu are in english and thai, they have no extra, just the films. The films are uncut as well.

Ok checking on the tv the quality is good, on par the region 1 version, and the good thing is that they included the region 1 literal subtitles, what this means is that the japanese terms ie ronin, onlong the top they explain what it means, ie Ronin - Masterless Samurai. I was hoping they would have this, and they do!!!!

An excellent purchase and very cheap as well :)
