new channel

Post by sky75 »

... or they have just started advertising? Anyway I noticed the channel on the Sky guide called "player" located around 122 just before Bravo. Most of their output looks crap to me EXCEPT on Saturday night and Sunday nights starting around 11pm/11:30pm they are showing martial- arts and/or Asian action movies.

I taped fighter in the wind on Saturday night which I'm yet to watch. I notice that next Saturday they are showing drunken Master. While on Sunday they are showing Jet Li's the hitman.

Telewest Digital Ch.154

Drunken Master was on last night at 11.30pm; letterboxed @ approx 1.75, Mandarin dubbed with remastered English subtitles. Uncut.

Basically the same as the HKL version (the subs use "Freddy" instead of "Fei Hung")

They have a yellow logo ident in the top right corner and cut to adverts every half hour. Fine if you haven't seen a film before or just want it on tape rather than buying a DVD.

I think the channel you refer to was CNX?

It used to show Asian action movies every night but was cancelled.

Shame about CNX. I used to like the mix of stuff that they had on back in the day. There's a channel called Rapture (can't remember the channel number) that's probably the closest regarding the anime side of things.

Agree Shen Top Up TV is shite and a complete waste of money.
I meant the "free" part of it is getting better.

That was a real shame about CNX as not only did they show Asian action movies every night at around 10 o'clock they repeated them at around 2am with absolutely no adverts breaks! As I recall they even had Bey Logan introductions, probably from the DVDs?

... Actually do you remember when Bravo used to show lots of martial-arts and Hong Kong action films? They were showing tons of Jackie Chan and Samo hung films along with martial law Samo's US TV series. I think this is where I got my first taste for John Woo's hard boiled.
