Eminem's D12 bandmate shot dead

I wasn't a huge fan of D12 but this is another tragic ending to the horrendous gun culture. Sad news.

I dont know why the guy was shot. Dont know the guy personally, if he was naughty or nice...or whatever... but if you got money, there will be people that will hate you and might do you harm.

Gawd... can remember those days that Will Smith and his homies were rolling through the 'hoods', blasting some mad caps at my ass...!Tom2681 wrote:All famous rappers are gangsters AFAIK.
there are many famous rappers that have stayed away from gangstah-stuff, yet some of them feel they need to both fake as well as worship that kind of lifestyle, which is a shame, as it's pretty pathetic and childish.
People like 50ct are jokes, I think. The guy cant rap, cant sing, cant write, cant act. All he does is flex his mucles and mumble about streetlife and getting shot. Fake ass bitch.
I much prefer the early albums by Nas, when he was still young and pretty mature and wise. Later he had a period where he was also posing a bit of a gangstah lifestyle, with the blingbling and big booty bitches etc... but it seems lately he has returned to his roots and started writing serious lyrics again.

As long as there are people, there will ALWAYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyssss be prejudice...thelostdragon wrote:Like all the rest... pfff... it seems there is no end to prejudice in this world.Markgway wrote:I believe these guys were into the illegal shit just like all the rest.
Always.
It would be a whole lot better if people would start looking a bit further then their own noses... but I dont hold any high hopes that it will become a trend.

Listen to you guys... you'd shit a brick if faced with any of these rappers on their own Detroit turf so please spare me the posturing. Guns, drugs and violence is a way of life for these people... although it's ironic someone mentioned Will Smith who appears to be one of the few rappers genuine about his resistance to violence and gangsta culture. The fact that I hate rap music has nothing to do with my condemnation of the gangsta rap lifestyle.

Look man, I am not denying that there are a lot of rappers who have been tough gangsters in their previous lifes, maybe even now after they reached stardom, wealth etc...
But to say "like all the rest" is really wrong. All the rest of what? You mean all the rappers don't you? If you didn't, you clearly wouldn't have said "all the rest". Some of my friends create their own rap-music. They're really good and have sold a few CDs. At times they appear on stage as the pre-band to the main event. I hang out with 2 of them a lot and they most certainly are NOT "into illegal shit", although they belong to "all the rest".

OK. Like a lot of them, then... is that better? Because everytime I see a rap video is always guns, gangstas, drugs, bitches, hos and other assorted goodies. I see nothing positive to come out of gangsta rap music or bling culture. It's all negative. But for some reason saying that makes me the bad guy?thelostdragon wrote:But to say "like all the rest" is really wrong.
Obviously. What else could I mean? Musicians? All the rest of what? You mean all the rappers don't you?
That's fair enough, I was wrong to say ALL rappers; TOO MANY would have been more apt. Some of my friends create their own rap-music. They're really good and have sold a few CDs. That's because the likes of MTV mostly air those gangster videos. Can't blame them. It's society that seems to be asking for that. Otherwise such stuff wouldn't be as successful as it is. But only because they are on TV all the time, doesn't mean they are the majority of rappers.Markgway wrote:OK. Like a lot of them, then... is that better? Again. ALL is negative. Can't you see that you are just not knowledgable enough about rap culture. I'm not saying you should like rap culture in order to judge if it is good or bad, but at least know a bit more about it than occasionally watching a rap video on MTV.I see nothing positive to come out of gangsta rap music or bling culture. It's all negative.
It does not. It just shows that like many other human beings you judge something as bad and negative because of lack of knowledge about it. That's like people saying Asian cinema sucks as all their films are karate films. But for some reason saying that makes me the bad guy?
I thought you might be talking about gangsters. I had a bit of hope in you.Obviously. What else could I mean? Musicians?
So what is TOO MANY? Those you see on MTV or the hundreds of rappers who are no international stars and create songs with decent meanings. Take the Korean rap culture for example. MC Sniper, Drunken Tiger, 1TYM or the YG Family... they all create top stuff and are not publicly praising and glorifying drugs consuming, killing and adultery. That's fair enough, I was wrong to say ALL rappers; TOO MANY would have been more apt.

I'll go with that for now... I did see a programme once about Christian rappers who rapped about God and religion.thelostdragon wrote:That's because the likes of MTV mostly air those gangster videos. Er, no. But please do enlighten me as to what is positive about gangsta/bling culture. I'm very curious...Again. ALL is negative. Can't you see that you are just not knowledgable enough about rap culture.
I know all I want to about D12 and Eminem and so on. If there are decent rappers out there - and you say there are - then they aren't the public face are they? I don't blame peopole for seeing a badly dubbed basher and finding Kung Fu movies a joke. If that's what they are sold. When the non-gangsta-non-bling videos start to play I may revise my opinion. Fair?It does not. It just shows that like many other human beings you judge something as bad and negative because you don't know about it.
A gangsta-rapper is still a gangsta.I thought you might be talking about gangsters. I had a bit of hope in you.

And thus I won't criticize their conduct. (Not that I've ever heard of them mind).Take the Korean rap culture for example. MC Sniper, Drunken Tiger, 1TYM or the YG Family... they all create top stuff and are not publicly praising and glorifying drugs consuming, killing and adultery.

Yeah, there used to be an Islamic-American rap group called "Soldiers of Allh". I doubt you'd like them, though. In fact I guess you'd hate them more than gangster rappers, he he he!Markgway wrote:I'll go with that for now... You see! There is the difference. I am talking about rap culture, why you keep of talking about gangsta culture. They are NOT the same. Just as Islam and terrorism aren't the same.Er, no. But please do enlighten me as to what is positive about gangsta/bling culture. I'm very curious...
Nope, unfortunately not. Although there are some famous rappers I like to listen to (Eminem and Warren G for example), most of the rap songs I have on my mp3-player are created by kind of independent underground rappers. People who just have a small fanbase and usually do not have the money to make rap videos. Believe me, the amount of these rappers is enormously larger than those you see on MTV (Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent etc.)I know all I want to about D12 and Eminem and so on. If there are decent rappers out there - and you say there are - then they aren't the public face are they?
Good to see you got what I wanted to say. The rappers you are seeing are in my opinion cheap kung fu films.I don't blame peopole for seeing a badly dubbed basher and finding Kung Fu movies a joke. If that's what they are sold. When the non-gangsta-non-bling videos start to play I may revise my opinion. Fair?

I hate violence even more than religion. But yeah, I won't be buying their greatest hits in a hurry...
I was talking about gangsta rap. That's what D12 are, no? I'm not an expert on all forms of rap and don't pretend to be.You see! There is the difference. 50 Cent is one of the worst. Making money out of being shot 9 times is odious. Especially considering the susceptibility of a young target audience.Believe me, the amount of these rappers is enormously larger than those you see on MTV (Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent etc.)

Crikey! quote wars Guys.
Does it mean this guy was into that sort of shady bussiness? I always thought they were quite poppy and not that way inclined from everything I saw about them, only MandM seemed that way, the rest seemed quite the oposite. Dont know why, who, but I am sure we will get the details soon and image is everything to these guys, even if they made fools of themselves they still kind of came off as hard.

Btw... I know I said 50 ct is an idiot or something along those lines, but I just remembered a few years ago he was on Jonathan Ross' show and he seemed like a very very nice fella. Ofcourse, most people, even serial killing madmen, are nice when you have a civilised talk, but I just remember myself liking him in that interview.

I saw that interview and he didn't seem 'nice' at all let alone 'very very nice'. In fact he looked like he was tolerating Ross but would have rather popped a cap in his ass. Quietly polite is not the same as nice.I know I said 50 ct is an idiot or something along those lines, but I just remembered a few years ago he was on Jonathan Ross' show and he seemed like a very very nice fella.

50 c well did he admit to acctually shooting people? as he brags so much about being shot and being a harcore dealer at one point.
The thing is people look up to him and really his past is very odd serious drug dealing to anyone who wants to pay for it. For me iit isnt something you can just ignore and say I am now a star, just doesnt feel right to me. I cannot imagine he ever got convicted as he isnt old enuff to have been in jail for a long time, so really he got away I guess (well apart from being shot I guess).
