I've been wondering that too, I dont know whether my player (one of the newer JVC players - 2003 models) can *do* RCE. *Worries*
Wasnt Spidey 1 RCE?

What player do you have?

Spider-Man is RCE, but I seem to remember reading a while ago that people's players were having a problem with it, so they were supposed to be stopping doing it...

Well considering I can't manually select a region, I'm assuming I can't play RCE ;)

Well I cant manually select a Region either, my player was just upgraded to Region Free.
I'll be annoyed tho if I can see an uncut Spidey 2 :(

Amazon.com (US) don't seem to suggest its' RCE (they dont have a note about RCE on the page), and neither do CD-WOW so you may be safe... :) ;)

Sounds good, but at the same time, I'd rather someone who owns it confirms rather than buying said DVD and not being able to play it ;)

Cheers mate

Hey,

I also asked this on the Rewind forums and this is what forum user "minister x" had to say:

"Right I've checked with DVDDecrypter and it reports that - most weirdly - DISC 1 (the film) is R1 only and NOT RCE, but DISC 2 (the extras) is R1/R3/R4 and it IS RCE"

???? Very wierd....

Do you know if theres a page that reports whether certain player models can do RCE or not? Because if the extras disc is RCE I could safely go with the Superbit R1 but *maybe* not the standard 2 disc R1 (I think?)

:D

That indeed sounds very strange. Well as far as I know, if you can't manually select a region on your player, you can't play RCE discs. Because surely that's the only way around it.

Have you bought it yet? Do both discs play? I want to buy the 2 disc R1 really, I dont want to have to double dip just for the extras disc. :(
The "Making The Amazing" documentary on Disc 2 is over 2 hours long. :o Is there an option to "Play All" of it on the R1, as Rewinds specs say the R1 is a 12 parter (still over 2 hours) but the other regions dont say 12 part documentary and give the runtime total instead. (?)

I saw this on Ceefax today (Page 547/548 I think) which made me laugh. :D Have a look see, it was something like:

Did you buy Spider-Man 2 over Christmas or buy the boxset of both Spider-Man 1 and 2 together? Well, theres another disc coming.
Already out in America, this Spider-Man 2 2 disc SE has a documentary almost as long as the film itself

Another one coming.. WTF? :D That 2 disc SE has been available in ALL countries since day 1 you silly numpty William Gallagher, including the US and UK. :D

The documentary you refer to is, of course "Making The Amazing"

Honestly I dont know why I bother LD I could write a better DVD column than him :D

Hey,

I've e-mailed Amazon.com themselves and asked them if any discs in the set are RCE.

I'm too scared of getting it and finding out that disc 1 is in fact RCE. It's kinda weird that Disc 2 appears to be and Disc 1 doesn't appear to be, so I'm like :S

I'll let you know when Amazon reply. I'm also like: :s as well, it seems I have a choice between an uncut movie, and extras I *may* not be able to play, or a cut/substituted movie with extras I can play, or an uncut movie with no extras at all :(

Unfortunately when I wrote to them I got fobbed off with the usual "the only information we can display is what is listed on the product page".

So does that mean if its NOT listed, the title is NOT RCE? Thats all I want to know.

I've always found Amazon to have absolutely shit customer service. They always fob me off and I end up getting in a big argument with them.

User "shrinkwrapper" just checked his R1 copy of the SE and cant find anything on the packaging or disc to suggest its' RCE. Most DVD sites dont mention it is RCE. However, he thinks the Superbit R1 IS RCE... crazy! :(

He also said that he thinks sometime this year there is a Spidey 2 Director's Cut (?) coming out but God knows when :D
In that case I'm glad I waited and havent bought it (or even seen the film yet!), I wonder what that release will be like, I hope it will have the extras from the current SE which look good.

Of course not. No RCE DVD says it's RCE on the packaging. I'd e-mail or PM Bruce for that RCE site or search on Google.

What have you got against the identical and cheaper R3?

Personally I thought it was better than the first but that isn't saying much as both are overrated and average. Give me X2, Batman and Superman 2 any day (in that order).

I can't wait for the Batman SE coming this year. I have no interest in the sequels though.

Cool, cheers grim, I'll wait and see about this DC...

Brad... I haven't seen the sequel, but Spider-Man is ace! I saw it at the cinema three times, which I have never done before!

The R3 is not identical, its cut ;) Apart from that I've got nothing against it. ;)

Its the same as the UK/European DVDs - ie cut. The R1 is the only uncut release.
