I am skiping MI3 tonight and going to see something more brainy, Slither 8)

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was [Alan Hansen]absoolooly fantaaastic[/alan hansen]. Probably better than the first and second. Hoffman was actually very good as the baddie. Much better than the smug Dougray Scott in MI2. Two hours flew by.

The Western perception of Thais is 90% inaccurate, it's the 10% which is accurate everyone thinks is the 100%.

Many would be surprised to hear Thais are very conservative about being naked, they even swim fully clothed (like Victorians did). It's been said one of the biggest thing prostitues have to get over is being naked/semi naked in public.

If Hoffman was a B-Movie actor I'm confident you'd love him. You only hate Hoffman because he's had critical praise of which you're biased against.

Nope not at all I've been visiting here long enough to know you have a real problem with critical praise.

If an actor does really well for themselves they must by design be rubbish.

Don't worry I knew. Having visited Thailand so many times it's become one of my pet peeves. The inaccurate opinion by most of the country.

I saw this tonight and like a few here I was disappointed. Score 6 out of 10.

I went in with some bad feelings as I made the mistake of listening to other people (which I find really difficult not to do) and also reviews saying it was exactly like Alias (as in it being non-original).

I don't think my opinion would've changed a great deal however as it's clear to me now JJ Abrahams is really no more talented than Bret Ratner. Both are definitely competent directors but neither have any artistic flair of there own.

The main problem I had was the whole film felt like action by numbers. Except for the set piece on the bridge (why were they speaking German?) ALL the action set pieces felt very unoriginal and I kept thinking "I've seen this all before". Like I just said that action set piece was cool but even that was a bit sloppy.

Don't get me wrong it's not by any means a bad action film, it's no Fast and the Furious. It's just that it should've been so much better. Mission Impossible is a great spy thriller, Mission Impossible 2 is a great action film (no one does gun fights quite like John Woo) but this felt well average.

I did like the IMF Team aspect which I'd forgotten was so integral to the TV show story and I equally liked how it zipped around the world (far to many Hollywood blockbusters are set in the same American states). I also liked how they actually spoke the correct languages, this has always really pissed me off how everyone in American films speaks English.

Personally I thought Hoffman made a great villain.

Ultimately and this says it all for me. An action film MUST have WOW moments and honestly it literally had ONE. That was when Maggie Q got out of that gorgeous sports car in an even more gorgeous red dress.

WOW she is hot. I really hope we see her more in Western films.

I've just found out she's half Vietnamese and half American. Funny I always thought she was half Chinese (not that she looks it). She's only 27 too (in 2 weeks anyway). I thought she was older.

I don't remember seeing her in Rush Hour 2, when did she appear?

Anyway I digress: I did enjoy MI3 but overall it was merely an average popcorn summer blockbuster. I expect more Mr. Cruise.

Mission Impossible 2 is definitely the best of the bunch, the action in that is awesome and as a film it hung together much better. It's clear Cruise wants these films to be summer blockbusters NOT spy thrillers.

Speaking of Tom Cruise my god he looks good for 44. By his looks alone I'd say he was in his late 30s. You could easily knock 5 years off him. I do wonder why he no longer seems interested in flexing his acting muscles, he could do these blockbusters in his sleep.

I also saw a new Trailer for X-Men 3 - OMG this looks freakin' awesome. I really hope Bret Ratner doesn't cock this up.

X2 is so good and going by the trailer looks even better. I can't for the 25th of May. Oh yes I will be there.

Wow, I find myself agreeing with Brad on many points. I never thought it would happen.

Seems like I may have misjudged Hoffman as everyone else has praised him; but honestly he didn't impress me.

You got that right! She looked amazing in that dress - literally my jaw dropped & I said "WOW". My mate just looked at me & laughed because he knows I've got a thing for Asian luverly ladies!

I hope we see her in more Western films too, especially if she wants to wear that dress again!

I agree Bradavon, Mission: Impossible 2 is my favourite of the trilogy too - great action & a stomping music score, especially during the Biocyte shootout...

That Bike sequence is awesome.

I'm now really worried for Star Trek if this is the best JJ Abrahams (stupid name) can come up with. MI3 felt a bit like a TV movie in places.

The thing is American TV shows have gotten so much better over the last few years, JJ Abrahams seems to think what will suffice/is considered awesome on the small screen will do on the big screen. IT WON'T!

Then I guess all the films and actors, directors that I love that get praise I must be lying and really hate them

and it was obvious from the word go you would not like MI3, because thats what you like

Maybe you should NOT read every single flipping review out there! and maybe you would go in with a blank slate, instead of an obviously tainted view of every single film

and maybe you wouldnt actually have read exactly what is coming in the film about 10 times, in 10 reviews. Pointless doesnt even come close.
