There are 24 episodes in Lost S1 on the R1 (25 on the R2)
Each episode is about 42/43 mins long (NTSC)
Lost and thanks. Why are all these shows 24 episodes? It made sense in 24 but not others.

I've not been following the thread as I don't want to come across spoilers.

24 episodes are supposed to equal 6 months worth of television. Some shows end up with 25 eps if they do a double-episode. Lost barely managed its 24 this season :(

Was it the whole series or just one season that you managed to get through?
Just season one. Why? Does it get better?

I don't like Rodriguez in it either. I don't like her at all, actually.

WOW...things are getting pretty insane at the end of season 2. The writters certainly seem to know where they are going with the whole thing. This story is holding my interest with a solid anchor.

I thought so. The Night of the Nearly Dead and the Christmas special are very funny, but then, I thought season one was funny as well, so...

And Recon, yes, things have gone a little bit strange in Lost, haven't they? :)

No the ending of Lost Season 2 is gripping, however it not as gripping at the cliff hanger of season 1. Still can't wait to see what Season 3 is like, and yes, I also think the writer know where they are going and who or what is the purpose of the Island

Absolutely. In my opinion, The Shield is the best written series on TV currently. Every week you have Vic Mackey just being hard-as-nails, and this last season with Forest Whittaker was just the best yet.
Haven't seen Veronica Mars (I'm assuming that's what VM stands for?). Battlestar Galactica is good currently, but it's only just finished its second season, so we have to see if it can keep the quality up, although with Olmos as Adama, I don't think they'll fail. He just rocks :)

Slightly off-topic, but The Sopranos just ended its fifth season, and whilst I though the first four were great (Joey 'Pants' was great in his series), I thought that this one was pretty poor all round. Very disappointed with it. Perhaps because I was under the impression that it was going to be completely finished at the end, and it just seemed to go nowhere. Instead, it's acted as almost as a bridge to the next season.

I just watched last night's C4 episode, and that black smoke monster bit was ace! It's dead intriguing, it seems to have small electric bursts inside it. I don't think this is the 'security system' itself, because that makes a mechanical noise and is large, but this smoke thing always seems to accompany it or precede it. Very intriguing indeed. I seem to remember the smoke thing being less black in the first season though, I'm sure it looked more like that invisible camouflage type thing like the Predator or what Solid Snake sometimes wears in Metal Gear Solid.

Sorry, season 6 finished recently in the States.

I don't think it's even begun to be shown on terrestrial TV in the UK. I just don't wait that for long for programmes I wanna watch :)

Now I'm really confused with this story. Just what the hell is going on in season 3? My bet is on some sort of genetic experimentation, but at this moment, it's anybody's guess.

Taking all bets! :D

The Lost Experience revealed what the numbers are about, so yeah, it will be that kind of experimentation.

Season 3, episode 1 was great by the way! :D

An interactive thing that went alongside the show. It treats the DHARMA initiative and all that as a real thing that is being investigated by an undercover woman. You get to see an orientation video presented by Alvar Hanso, who explains what the DHARMA initiative were really doing, which is to do with the numbers, which are to do with the Valenzetti Equation - a fictional equation that predicts when humanity will extinguish itself.
