Is it right our player chooses what music we can listen to?
A perfect example why I won't touch Online Music Stores with a barge pole until DRM dies (which it won't).
What happens when greed comes before fair play?

Sony's Connect system was terrible (I say this as a user for a number of years, purely because I had a funky looking little ATRAC3 player). Never bought any music online (all my music is from my CDs or... other means
), but SonicStage (Sony's software) was a farce. And I'm saying this as a generally 'up' person regarding Sony.
To be fair, I don't really have a problem with iTunes, as I have no (and will never have, if I have any say in it) WMA music, so all my MP3s go onto my iPod without the need to convert or anything. This is where Sony's system (back in the day; I believe they've changed it now) faltered; it converted an MP3 into ATRAC3plus which, whilst giving a good compression rate/quality ratio, was a pain in the arse to do everytime I wanted to change my playlist.
Sorry, I've just hijacked this thread into a rant about my previous portable music player
I don't believe that the music playback software should dictate the format which we listen to our music in, but as long as it uses a standard that most are happy with, and as importantly offers the same quality as another (if not better), then you can't really go against it.
