I just saw the Argentina v Serbia Montenegro game... my god....

That was total anhilation, genocide, mass murder, butt raping...etc..etc...

6-0!!! (the last 3 came within 10 mins). The ref even stopped the game early to soften the humiliation.

The Argentinian teamwork, communication and positioning were spot on. These guys are deadly.

IMO Argentina remind of the Tenacious D song, Fuck Her Gently. Because that's what they do.... but then they fuck you hard. Also I can imagine them asking "what's your favourite posish? that's cool with me it's not my favourite but i'll do it for you." That's fucking teamwork.

hey,
Look, the one thing England and Sweden have in common is that they haven't a snowball's chance in hell of winning the damn cup.
Amen to that. People are acting like we're ON now. Bullshit. There will be a mediocre performance against England that at best will generate a draw and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we don't get through. Considering how uninspired the whole team has felt aside from some energetic substitutes, this would all make sense.

Would love to be proven wrong though but that would mean a FULL turnaround. As if...

I think you have to win and beat us (England) to top the group Kenete, is that right?
We are friends now but on Tuesday for a few hours.. ;)
Mind you I dont think we've been playing that well either. 2 wins but the performances were mediocre. Drop Crouch and the long ball game would disappear. Once Rooney gets fully fit again play him up front with Owen :)

hey,

Sweden needs a win or draw to advance in any case. A loss against England, then T&T are to be looked out for...

I've had my sports blessing this year with Olympic and World Cup gold in hockey. Footie is secondary this year and rightly so by the looks of it over here.

As much as I'd like to see Sweden beat England, I sincerely doubt that'll happen because as mentioned, they are completely dreadful and boring.

I'm absolutely gutted at Ivory Coast losing. They played really aggresively in the 2nd half and it got them nowhere. They were far too hesitant at times I felt. I've a feeling that Argentina will crush the Netherlands though. We'll see what happens.

Yeah Argentina will crush us in the form they had today. Dont think Holland really deserved the win, but we'll take it anyway ;)
All respect to Ivory Coast, who I would like a lot more if it wasnt for that titface Drogba, who I fucking HATE.

Hail Van Persie indeed. Just 1 year ago he was in jail, and now he scored in the world cup! kudos. :)

Congrats to Angola for drawing (the crowd are acting as if they've won the world cup) but I really expected them to win. They're chances of staying are slim now but it's premature to predict anything.

Yeah, congrats to Angola, wanted them to win!
Could we see a shock winner this tournament a la Greece in Eurom 2004?

Spain were impressive in their first match, and that would be a semi-shock. Chech Republic idem-dito...
I dont think Holland can win it, and neither can England. well, England CAN, but they have a shite manager and bad tactics, but they have the individual class to still get goals from bad games, so it's tricky... they can win or lose each and every match.

England won't win it, you're quite right.

I'm really depending on Spain because I got them at the world cup sweeps at work. I was kinda gutted initially because they don't usually perform that well but their opening match caught me by surprise.

why would you drop crouch  he's the only one who currently looks like scoring striker wise. owen is playing like a man wondering what happened to his career the last 2 years. rooney isn't fit yet to play 90 minutes.

Crouch maybe our best striker now, but he isnt very good, all we do is hoof the ball up the pitch to Crouch's head. Owen will be a different player if he plays with Rooney.

owen when on form actually plays better with crouch-you did see the argie game a few months back :? england's problem lies in the midfield where sven hasn't got the bottle to drop lampard. you have one of the best attacking midfield players in the world in gerrard, who singlehandedly wins trophies for his club side stuck playing a defensive midfield role to accomodate lampard  stupidity

I agree about that BTW, the reason Gerrard doesnt perform for England is because Sven keeps playing him out of position! :?
Against some of the top defenders wouldnt Crouch be too slow? We tend to do mostly long balls and flick ons when he plays, Owen works better with a passing game. Anyway if we play Crouch against Sweden he may get banned for the last 16.
I still think Rooney should get 45 mins-ish against Sweden to get fit.

crouch is not quite top class and against the top teams he's probably better used as an "impact" sub but while owen is unfit & off form we have no choice.blame sven for not taking another forward (defoe, bent maybe) walcott is too inexperienced imo.

I agree with that, especially about the Walcott comment. No-one actually knows what he can do :)

Gerrard repeatedly proves how good he is and Lampard, whilst being a decent enough player, is not of the same calibre, in my opinion. I mean, how many chances did he fluff against our last opposition?
