Muse

Post by Kurgan »

Anyone listened to/like the music of these guys?

I've got all their albums and until this evening, had only listened to a preview of their latest single Supermassive Black Hole on iTunes. However, on Jonathan Ross' TV chat show, Muse performed the whole track, and I was pretty impressed. I'll be getting the new album fo' sho sho, to use the parlance of our times...

Actually, I just wanted to see my name. Twice :D

They've really got their sound sorted out, demonstrated by the fact that they've made the same album three times.

Eva, you'll be disturbed to know that their sound is no longer sorted out, as the new album is supposed to be very different, and going on the new single, I'd have to concur.
But then again, I thought that all their albums have been rather different in tone: the first downbeat and sober (:)); the second, a lot more upbeat (Bliss and New Born burn their way into your head) and the third was rather grand.

I think I've only listened to their third album (absolution?). Should really get a hold of the first two.

I've had their newest album, Black Holes And Revelations, since release and whilst the whole album is pretty damn good, I can't stop listening to one particular track: Map Of The Problematique. According to iTunes, I've listened to it 61 times already, and that's not including the number of times I've listened to it on my iPod.
Absolutely phenomenal track.

I just got tickets to see these guys in Aberdeen. I'm so happy and broke at the same time.

Dude that song is like the audio equivalent of an orgasm.

I quite like:

knights of cydonia (11)
starlight (2)
assassin (7)

Map Of The Problematique keeps on pulling ahead of the other tracks; only Zion, by Fluke and Fast Shadow by the Wu-Tang Clan have any hope of catching it :)

I like City of Delusion as a whole, but it has this killer section in the middle of it that I can't get enough of; where the music builds and builds to an explosive crescendo. God, that's good :D
It's politically aware music, without being too specific, which is very good, with some great beats. I like all the tracks, although as you've no doubt picked up, I have some favourites :D

Supermassive Black Hole has a mindfuck of a video. Quite a Silent Hill vibe to it. MTV2 had a Muse Videography the other day. And though they missed out the New Born video, I'll forgive 'em as they showed Bliss, which is one of my favourite tracks and videos ever.

I just saw Muse live last night. OMG how awesome - it was not only a gig but a full on show. There were all sorts of screens and neon lights. Reminded me of Tokyo again. It was an audio-visual experience man and Matthew's really good on the piano.

When Map Of The Problematique was played, I had the urge to take off my pants and dangle my gonads from side to side. I didn't on the basis of it being so busy that I couldn't move my arms, let alone strip.

Map of the Problematique is the only decent track on their new album.

How long were they on for? And can you remember what they played?

Most of the songs were from the newest albulm - the rest were from Absolution and Origin of Symmetry (none from Showbiz). They played pretty much every single. They started off with Knights Of Cydonia and finished with Starlight.

They played for a good 1hr 45mins (approx) and switched between their heavier songs and ballads.

Superb.

I saw them on 'Later with Jools Holland' last week and thought they were excellent. I wouldn`t buy their CDs, but they were pretty good. :)
