You guys exercise?
Or are you a fatty fat ass?
I play badminton, squash and do 5k runs from time to time. I'm quite competitive so I prefer games instead of going to the gym. I'll only really run if I've not played squash or badders that week.
FYI: Playing squash really does tone your ass. I noticed results after a week of rigorous training. My ass is pretty damn peachy. 8)
Also: Despite being competitive, I'm a terrible squash and badminton player. I play hard but usually lose and get a gubbing.

Now that school is over, my trainings-schedule is main priority again. Doing lots of push-ups and punching exercises. Plus (again) I'm almost back in the splits again.
Thinking about hanging up some kicking targets in the yard, cause right now I'm just kicking leaves of trees and shit like that, and those are somehow getting a bit rare at the moment
I have no fat on my body, or almost no fat. But I should exercise my belly more as my sixpack is pretty much gone. I could probably have it back in a very short time, but I find sit-ups so fucking tedious and boring. They dont even give you a nice feeling afterwards or whatever.
I also like to go back to my old neighbourhood from time to time and play streetfootball... which is still my favourite passtime I guess...
I LOVE playing football. I like most games, but football is just the most fun.

mmh depends i tend to work out for 30 minutes before i go to bed. and sometimes for 30 minutes during the day, a mixture of yoga and pliates which is acutally pretty cool, and part of my physio to correct my posture and stability etc... also gonna start swimming again twice a week. getting back into a routine after some months of pain i didnt do so much.
i miss doing the stuff i used to do like karate and trampolining but i've been forbade until my joints are stable (4 years or so probably, bugger it)
and i used to play badminton in highschool, it was pretty fun, until the doubles game and we both went for the shuttlecock and i got belted across the eye by the edge of the other players raquet..yeah that hurt lol
but my main sport was trampolining but it harmed my knees, although i didnt give it up without a major fight the only reason i dont do it now is becuase i left highschool and theres few places that do it anymore

I try to run a couple of miles a day, and I play my 5-a-side as well. I've not been sleeping so well recently, so my running's been suffering, in that I have no will to do it in the morning. And in the evening, well, the footie's on
My brother-in-law is quite a squash player. He used to play for his county, and played table tennis for the national team. I've only played him a couple of times, and I had to concentrate on just hitting the damn ball, let alone playing any shots. He's older than I am, and was thrashing me, which is really discouraging.

Why do so many people like to run? That wasnt even fun back when I had condition, let alone now
I really dont see the benefit in it. it's just really boring. AT LEAST take a ball or a dog or whatever with you, when you go running, but man, even then it's boring.

I've never ran with music on, so that might make a slight difference. However: I doubt itKurgan wrote:It's incredibly boring. Maybe that's part of the reason I've been slacking off lately.
If I didn't have my iPod, I don't think I'd be able to do it at all.
Like Yi, I do like my football. It gives a purpose to getting completely knackered
Ow gawd I LOVE football. I loved how I'd wake up, fill a big bottle with water, grab a ball and just went outside to where the court was and just play all day. I usually started out alone, and slowly but surely more and more people would join, untill late at night when everyone went home. Obviously there were breaks in between for going home and getting something to eat, or maybe watch a little TV, filling the bottle again, etc etc.... but yeah, in those days all I needed was a ball and a bottle of water.
Right now, that would still be all I would need in life, but sadly I've moved away from the old neighbourhood, plus as I've gotten older I now have other responsibilities etc...
A 22 year old kid playing football is still acceptable. A 29 year old playing football all day is apparently frowned upon a bit

I used to do a fair amount of hiking and biking, but I don't exercise the way I used to before I had kids. It's hard when you can't leave them unsupervised and have to keep things at their pace.
Still, try to walk when I can. I biked 6 miles with the kids today, which is about as active as I get these days.
But I am most definitely NOT a fatty fat ass, even if things aren't as toned anymore.

Did various sorts of martial arts (Karate, Wu Shu, Kick Boxing). Currently it is Tae Kwon Do. TKD is great as it focusses a lot more on stretching the legs. So I'm also back into the splits. Apart from that I do fitness workout twice a week.
Running can be great if you chose to run on an adventurous track. Places where you have to jump over obstacles while running. Becomes even funnier when you have those weights around your ankles. It's just very good for stamina.
I love running the most when I am on vacation somewhere where I have never been before. On the first morning I wake up, I usually go running to explore the location a bit and while it is still a bit cool outside.

You're right that it would absolutely make a big difference WHERE you run. As everyone knows Holland is FLAT really REALLY flat. If I would like an adventurous run, then I'd have to go to the coast and run through the forrest and the dunes...thelostdragon wrote:Did various sorts of martial arts (Karate, Wu Shu, Kick Boxing). Runnng on a track like you described, with stuff you can jump over and shit like that also sounds cool.
I remember as a kid me and a friend used to run at full speed through a crowded mall, so you had to avoid hitting people and had to jump over their little shopping carts and quickly jump through people if there was a little room, etc etc. Plus we sometimes ran REALLY hard through the thick forrest, away from the patchs, so you had to constantly watch out for branches and all that stuff. That's alot more fun cause next to running you also jump alot and it's really about REACTION instead of running, so it doesnt become boring.

I bet. Especially when you are wearing weights around your ankles, like you dothelostdragon wrote:Yeah, the jumping parts becomes especially interesting when you have been running for quite a long time. You'll see how exhausting a simple jump while running can be.

I agree with you. I hate every time I run and I avoid it if I can.Yi-Long wrote:Why do so many people like to run? That wasnt even fun back when I had condition, let alone now

But if I've not had enough exercise that week (either through badminton, squash or whatever), then I feel dirty and fat and would rather endure the hour of boredom. I run as a very last resort as it is a bit of a poofy exercise routine.
Give me a nice competitive sport any day.
Oh 68m, it's ok I'm sure you're not a fatty fat ass (I got a glimpse at your photo!). But you're in a different scenario being a parent and all. I like to go hiking from time to time but I've poor endurance. The other guys hate me coming along with them.

Nope but I should do. I used to walk everywhere (20 minutes into town from house for example) but haven't for a few years now.
I'm skinny as a rake but not fit at all. Oh I'm underweight too (57Kg) and have been told by my doctor I need to eat "more", which isn't easy when you're full up.
I've been thinking about jogging with an MP3 Player but bed is always so enticing

I do A LOT of walking, as it is part of my jobs.
In the past year & a half I've gone from size L pants to size M (I can see my ribcage FFS), which is annoying as my pants keep slightly slipping down (and I end up giving myself wedgies from periodically having to pull them up). I have to buy new pairs of pants one of these days, none of them take belts either so that's not an option.
