The Da Vinci Code - November 2006?

Post by grim_tales »

This Spanish R2 comes in 2 flavors - 2 Disc Extended Cut (extra 28 minutes) and 2 Disc CE Gift Set.

My Spanish isn't that great, but extras seem to indlude an audio commentary with Ron Howard, deleted scenes, documentaries, "From Book To Screen" featurette, artwork, secret codes :)

Extended cut, cool. I know it's already a long film, but I wouldn't say no to an extended cut, personally.

I can't see any sign of an extended cut in the R2 and R1 versions, why is this?

Did you like it then Gasteropod? It seems most didn't. "The Da Vinci Code" formed the basis of one of Mark Kermode's classic rants :D

I was going to see it (mainly for Audrey Tatou, she's a decent actress okay  ) but then went off the idea.

Yeah, I did like it. I haven't read the book by the way. I found it to have a similar kind of feel to it as The Ninth Gate does, which I also like. :)

Nah, Ninth Gate was a much more suspensfull and thrilling event than the Da Vinci Code. It was just... dull? I dunno... didn't grasp me...

I read the book about a year ago, and kinda liked it (I mean, conspiracies? history? wooo...)

I'm not quite sure if it needs an extended cut... didn't really feel anything missing (though of course there was) - but I think the editing was done rather well... it went by "quickly" without the audience being confounded by it's "message".

One of the worst films of the year, by a mile. Such a waste of time and energy even watching it, it would have to be very different for me to ever see it again.

I have seen a lot this year and DVC was pants really, as unspectacular in every way possible as a film can get, not a single good scene in it. Far from crap mind you, but very far from a good film. Worth one watch thats for sure.

I detested Syriana and 16 Blocks, they stink like shit the pair of them and are worse than DVC, by a mile.

The Da Vinci Code Extended Cut 4.5/5
I don't know what film the critics were watching, as I thought this was spectacular. Only thing is they miss out the fact that Sophie's brother is still alive. It was implied in the book.... oh well.
