Bruce Lee's Family to Shoot New Film

Hong Kong kungfu star Bruce Lee's family plans to shoot a new movie about the martial arts and film legend to dispel the myths that have arisen since his death 33 years ago.

Speaking at a gathering to mark the anniversary of the star's death in 1973, younger brother Robert Lee Chun-fai said the legend had never faded but few people knew the real Bruce Lee.

He said this year the whole family decided to launch a book to mark his birthday in November and they would record a film to show the other side of Bruce, how he was growing up, his secrets and his philosophy from the never-seen perspective of his brothers and sisters.

The film will be shot next year by JA Media in co-operation with brothers Robert and Peter and sisters Phoebe and Agnes, and is scheduled to air on the 35th anniversary of Bruce Lee's death in 2008.

JA Media movie producer Stephen Shin Kei-yin said they would trawl the world to find the right actor to portray Lee.

Agree, the guy is a legend but how many biopics/films can you have? It will most likely be tastefully done if its mnade by his family though.

Didnt Linda also aprove of Dragon? That movie wasnt faithfull AT ALL to Bruce Lee.
Cant they better just make another documentary? Or wait 10 years and make the ultimate CGI biopic?

Well... if ANYONE should be making money off it, it should be them, right? It's their husband/father who MADE the legacy, and Linda was the woman who was always there behind her man.

I have absolutely no problem with them still getting paid, as I'm sure Lee would have wanted his family to be taken care of because of what he has achieved.

I do have a problem with them OK-ing shite projects.

They ought to to get the guy from Shaolin Soccer. Absolute dead-ringer, no offense intended. It's just a turn of phrase.

He can get trained up to so he looks convincing fighting on-screen, if he can't already. He seemed athletic enough in Chow's film.

he did look amazingly like bruce lee actually, when my dad watche dit he did a double take and asked when this movie was made, and that he didnt know bruce made such a movie, until he realized it was jusat look alike

That guy was the best thing about Shaolin Soccer.

There's another Chow film where an ugly dude named Bobby Yip (appears in loads of films) does an hilarious take on Bruce. I think it might be The Lucky Guy?

Chan Kwok-kwan I believe his name is, also played a prominent role in Kung Fu Hustle as leader of the Axe Gang...if I remember correctly.

The best Bruce Lee-impersonater is in my opinion Sammo Hung. Sure, he doesn't quite look like him at all, but he beats anybody at immitating the Little Dragon.
