The SD-DVD & HD Comparisons thread

bradavon · Post by **bradavon** » 01 Aug 2006, 00:20

Fair enough on both. I only have Redux too.

We'll still be able to see:

1. How the Redux and Original Cut compare on the SE
2. How the Redux compares to the French and R4

I got rid of my Original Cut Pathe (my mistake it's Pathe in the UK) DVD ages ago.

Anyone up for??

The Hitman (HKL vs Mei Ah Remastered)
The Magnificent Butcher (HKL vs IVL)

Ooh, and Dreadnaught, which comes out tomorrow.
(HKL vs Mega Star)

Magnificent Butcher = I've got the FOX and HK Vidéo.
Dreadnaught = HK Vidéo.

HungFist · Post by **HungFist** » 06 Aug 2006, 16:29

I've got HKL Hitman

Markgway · Post by **Markgway** » 06 Aug 2006, 16:30

French discs are no use to me personally and the Fox Butcher is remixed only. But if you want me to do HKL caps for Butcher I can.

I hate this "Fred" crap.

bradavon · Post by **bradavon** » 06 Aug 2006, 17:46

Of all the western names to go with they went with Fred

Markgway · Post by **Markgway** » 06 Aug 2006, 21:09

I guess Dave and Herbert were taken.

grim_tales · Post by **grim_tales** » 07 Aug 2006, 08:29

Its' bad on Drunken Master when they call Jackie FREDDIE as well

bradavon · Post by **bradavon** » 07 Aug 2006, 18:32

EvaUnit02 · Post by **EvaUnit02** » 08 Aug 2006, 00:20

Hey, are there any decent releases of Master of the Flying Guillotine? Or do all them look like pants?

tom2681 · Post by **tom2681** » 10 Aug 2006, 14:56

None that I know of, sorry.

Does anybody have Bride With White Hair ? (any edition)
I wanna see how good my french dvd is.

thelostdragon · Post by **thelostdragon** » 10 Aug 2006, 20:19

I have the Tartan disc, but I'm sure your French disc is miles better. Why compare then anyway? It has French subs only, so who cares?

tom2681 · Post by **tom2681** » 10 Aug 2006, 20:40

I do.

I think the colours are a bit weird on my french DVD.
If they are, then I might wanna upgrade to the Tartan disc.

If you could post some pics, I'd really appreciate it.

Lourdes · Post by **Lourdes** » 10 Aug 2006, 20:51

Upgrade to a Tartan disc? HAHAHAHAHAHA.

tom2681 · Post by **tom2681** » 10 Aug 2006, 20:56

Aw come on !
They're not THAT bad.

Markgway · Post by **Markgway** » 10 Aug 2006, 23:57

Tartan have produced the best versions of Hard-Boiled and Battle Royale so don't scoff.

EvaUnit02 · Post by **EvaUnit02** » 11 Aug 2006, 00:39

Tartan UK's Oldboy, A Tale of Two Sisters and Infernal Affairs 1 are the best around as well.

Markgway · Post by **Markgway** » 11 Aug 2006, 13:19

How is Tartan's IA1 better than the Mega Star?

It's in PAL which is superior to NTSC

Markgway · Post by **Markgway** » 11 Aug 2006, 13:27

Is the A/V any better? Is it worth doing caps?

the pathfinder original non-anamorphic release is the best

Yeah, those bastards pretty much fucked up the negatives when they did their anamorphic "remaster".

Markgway wrote:Some more requests...

The new R1s of Mission: Impossible and Mission: Impossible II
I have the R2 (UK) original releases of both these and reports suggest that the R1 collector's eds surpass them.

Platoon R1 20th Anniversary
I have the R2 (UK) Special Edition. It's not so much the additional extras that interest me, but has the image been improved at all?

Patriot Games R1/2 Collector's Editions
I have the original R2 (UK). Any improvements with the newer versions on either side of the pond?

I can do caps for anything I have.

Thanx.

i have the new region 1 of Mission Impossible if you still want caps mark?

bradavon · Post by **bradavon** » 18 Aug 2006, 20:47

Yes please.
