I've just reopened this thread for discussion if people feel they wish to comment.
May I all draw your attention to Mordib's so therefore the sites stance on piracy as detailed March 2005:
"'i disagree with the law on downloading stuff' is fine. 'i actively pirate stuff' is a pretty stupid thing to put on a public forum but fine (I am not going to stop you from confessing to crimes on the site unless it infringes on my legality. I am also going to help the authorities in anyway they can if I am asked to do so.). 'this site shows you how to...', 'you can do it this way..', 'try checking out....' or any other post which in any way helps other posters in any illegal activity is not fine. Incitement to break the law is also not fine."

My personal opinion on rules:
I agree with Toge we need some form of rules. They should however be concise, to the point and we specifically only have rules which are actually deemed necessary. For example: A rule about no racism I wouldn't deem necessary when none of us are racist anyway.
It was decided around March-May 2005 rules weren't needed so the rough list on page 1 never got implemented or finalised.

For the record and quickly as I should be in bed:
That's not what I'm saying. I've reopened the thread as it seems fitting with new mods possibly/probably coming on board they should be aware of the rules (or lack of them). There is no reason why rules are needed now in particular or more so than they ever have been. Personally like I said I think we've always needed rules but that doesn't mean we're going to get them, note the word personally.
Yi calm down all I've done is reopen the thread for discussion. Like I said it will all need to be cleared and decided first before anything happens, if at all. You don't even know what the rules are yet, calm down until then I say. Jeez you really do have a chip on your shoulder with any mention of the word rules don't you?
Like I said the rules should only contain particular items deemed necessary, such as piracy discussion.
The other reason was to redraw people's attention to the sites stance on piracy and circumventing copyright.
You, Eva and the like may disagree but this is one rule we do have in place. I felt it a particularly good time to remind people of this rule when certain members have been recently ignoring the rule.
Seriously I don't want to blow it out of proportion when right now we don't have rules (except for this one).

Well, you opened it up agan with the note that you agreed with Toge that we needed some rules.... so that's why I wondered why we are suddenly having this discussion again. It seemed like you were planning on having some new rules.
me no likey rules
me no likey rules
I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Which ones out of interest?
To clarify as boy was I waffling in my previous post. From my point of view I think we need rules but they'd literally be things like "the no piracy stance" and "hardcore pornography or female/male nudity of a non-Playboy nature to be used in links not with the IMG tag".
I can't even think of another rule to add off the top of my head.
There probably are a couple more. It's more so we all know where we stand than imposing strict rules on everyone that we all have common sense and are adult enough to do anyway.
I remember at the time Mordib was against any more than 10, on the outside.
