This film looks quite good:

Plot Outline (Courtesy of IMDB):

Director Neil Burger's screen adaptation of Steven Millhauser's short story 'Eisenheim the Illusionist'. Eisenheim (Edward Norton) is a magician in early 1900's Vienna, who falls in love with a woman well above his social standing. When she becomes engaged to a Crown Prince, Eisenheim uses his powers to win her back and undermine the stability of the royal house of Vienna.

The other magician movie, The Prestige, looks far more interesting. I'd imagine that this film might be the "Deep Impact" of the magician movie war (the duller of the two) and The Prestige will be the "Armageddon" (the more interesting film; except Chris Nolan is a very talent director unlike Michael Bay - shut up Romero, Bay is not a genius).

The Prestige looks awesome. The Illusionist is not.

It starts off well but ends up with the usual love triangle cliché Hollywood bollocks. That isn't really a spoiler btw as you learn it soon into the film but just to be sure.

Jessica Biel is wooden, Edward Norton is decent enough though. The story is wooden too.

I'd give it 6 out of 10. It's worth a rental but not a keeper.

p.s - I saw it in San Diego the other week.

I totally forgot I saw this film (and you guys probably haven't).

I watched it on the plane though, which kinda sucked. The film was alright (it passed the time) but the ending was kinda overly convinient.

The Prestige was better as far as films about magicians go.
