Rain' tops AFI's musicals list
September 6 2006
The American Film Institute has revealed its latest list: The top 25 movie musicals of all time, headed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen's 1952 classic "Singin' in the Rain."
The AFI list, compiled by the vote of a jury of 500 miscellaneous industry professionals, was unveiled Sunday night at the Hollywood Bowl.
A bit of trivia: "Singin' in the Rain," an MGM film, earned only two Oscar nominations in its year of release.
(For those interested in beefing up their Netflix queue, the entire list is presented below.)

I haven't seen many musicals though, I enjotyed Moulin Rouge but 25th best musical of all time WTF?
No Rocky Horror Picture Show, or Wonka (1971). Bah
I do agree about SINGIN' IN THE RAIN and WIZARD OF OZ, both superb classic films that work as MOVIES as well as MUSICALS, Beauty and The Beast is definitely enchanting (though again, like Moulin, is it one of the best musicals? One of my favourite Disneys) and I used to watch MARY POPPINS non-stop as a kid
