One Hit Wonders?

Post by BiscLimpkit »

People who have made one masterpiece, but the rest of their films are gash:

Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira)

That's all I can think of tbh. Will update later after I watch Hostel.

Katsuhiro Otomo has only made 2 feature length anime films, labelling him a one-hit wonder seems extremely premature to me.

Same with Kurt Wimmer in that case then, he's only made Equilibirium and Ultraviolet AFAIK.

Still technically a one hit wonder... they can lose that status anytime they wish.

Wimmer's a good one!!

I rather liked Tamahori's 'The Edge' written by David Mamet.
Anyone else seen that one?

Anyway, here's a few more...

American History X (Tony Kaye)

Bad Boys (Rick Rosenthal) - He also did a couple of 'Halloween' sequels, but seriously...?

The Last Supper (Stacy Title)

Mute Witness (Anthony Waller)

Quick Change (Bill Murray)

Toy Soldiers (Daniel Petrie, Jr) I like it, OK??

Two Days in the Valley (John Herzfeld)

EDIT: When you say "one hit wonders" do you mean "hit" as in the quality of the film or the box office? Because I can think of plenty directors who've only done one good film, but have had much success with others. So far I've only listed some of the quality ones I can think of.

I assumed by the quality of the film. See Bisc's original post:-
