I've looked in the Customs thread but it doesn't really answer my question and the FAQ link is down.
I'm planning to buy something from Hungary who aren't in the EU and have been told I need to pay Hungary's 20% TAX rate. I'm not convinced I need to pay it. Do I?
Also:
* If I do have to pay it as Hungary isn't part of the EU or they won't sell it to me otherwise can I claim this back?
* Am I likely to be hit again by UK Customs? It will be sent via Hungarian GLS Courier.
Cheers
Should I pay Hungary's TAX to import to the UK?

It's well over £18 so no way they could mark it under or they could but it's bound to draw attention to itself.
Anyway as Hungary is an EU country (my mistake) I shouldn't have to pay VAT again when it gets into the UK, but do have to pay it originally (it sucks therefore Hungarian TAX is higher):
# Customs charges may only be applied from goods sent into the UK from outside the EU. Orders from within have already had the relevant VAT and duty paid in that EU member state. Jersey is not classed as within the EU, but as a Special Territory, and as such is liable to VAT.
# The current allowances for DVDs, CDs and the such are £18, or £36 for gifts.
# If an item is VAT-exempt (such as books), you will not be liable for charges on those items
