Make sure you watch Click

Post by BiscLimpkit »

I doubt anyone here has seen it (especially Mark) but it's very good. The jokes are decent (a few misses from time to time) but the drama is awesome. Its underlying message about the speed of life leaves a profound yet bitter feeling at the end, despite coming across as a "feel good" movie.

Agreed. The trailer alone made me puke.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Watched it a few days ago. Kate Beckinsale is very easy on the eyes. ;)

As for the moral of the story, well, it isn't what I was expecting from this kinda film, but I wasn't as impressed as Bisc was. Fun way to spend a couple of hours; I can recommend it.

I thought the trailer looked kinda funny, but from what I saw of the trailer the themes don't seem deep, Sandler fast forwards through sex, fart jokes, smack on the head jokes..

It definitely works best as a thought provoking drama first, comedy second. It's more Punch Drunk Love than say Big Daddy.

Happy Gilmore is the only Sandler movie I can stand.

I kept asking myself how many times can he play a retarded man-child... and then I realised he'd apparently stopped.

Big Daddy was an uneasy mix of gross out humor (OK some of it I found funny :P ) and icky sentiment.

(Kid in McDonalds starts crying when Sandler can't get him a Happy Meal in McDonalds).

Sandler: OH, HORSESHIT! (quietly to kid): No not you... erm.. WILL SOMEONE GET THIS KID A HAPPY MEAL?!

This movie was a lot better when it was called "Bruce Almighty".

Well, at $20M you'd certainly think about it before saying no. Although $20M would buy you an awful lot of mouthwash...

Speaking of Bruce Almighty, there's a (sort-of) sequal coming, called Evan Almighty, starring Steve Carrell (who played the obnoxious TV host in Bruce A., as well as the the lead in the 40 year old virgin, and the US version of The Office)

Morgan Freeman returns as God btw.

Sounds crap, though...

Anyway... I think Adam Sandler is OK-ish. He's certainly got comic-timing, but I'm not a big fun of stupid comedy, which many of the USA comedies seem to be...
I liked Happy Gilmore though, and Big Daddy was OK. Havent seen Drunk Punch Love or whatever yet.

I think The Wedding Singer is Sandler's best (not seen PDL yet).

PDL is excellent, very un-Sandler though and the better for it.
