OK, checked:

Edko sub: Sure, it's past midnight.
Tartan sub: Past midnight, everyone bothers me.

French dialogue: Passé minuit, tout le monde me dérange.
My translation: Past midnight, everyone bothers me.

Based on this -> The Tartan subs are great. :D

Tartan releases a great DVD on occasion, Edko NEVER releases a good DVD.
What was up with the 2 disc TC of "Hero"? Thats fine.

And:

-My Little Bride
-My wife is a gangster
-Windstruck

The only problem with Edko is that most of their titles are interlaced.

If Hero and HOFD are interlaced they're bloody good interlaced.

Yeah, the SE (2 disc) of HOFD is a great transfer. Hero was great too.

PAL-NTSC conversion AND interlaced. You do the math.

:? It was NTSC, so was HOFD.
It looked good to me anyway, if Tom liked it (and remember he has a 100" screen).

Are you sure it's PAL to NTSC Eva??? Besides the Japanese DVD costs a fortune and the Western DVDs aren't much cop.

Yep, I can confirm that.
Most Edko DVDs are PAL-sourced.

Blimey it's a bloody good conversion then. Is it easier to convert PAL to NTSC than NTSC to PAL? As the other way round in my experience looks worse.

Why not leave it PAL, it's not like HK can't play PAL.

Is the R4 release of 36 Quai any good?

Yes but the Tartan has DTS and some featurettes extra and being a UK (vs. Aussie) DVD it will naturally go into Sales anyway.

Both are Native-PAL.
