I would pick up some stuff, i hadn't had dropped $100 on the Cd-wow sale and another $110 on past DDD Paramount BOGOF sale.

Skim reading, I see a bunch of good titles (the capitalised titles are just a result of me cuntpasting:-
Lost in Translation
Being John Malkovich SE
Cape Fear CE (1962)
Cape Fear 1991 Scorsese remake (only release with DTS)
Duel CE - only release with original mono (which has the original foley effects)
Billy Madison SE
Happy Gilmore SE
Land of the Dead DC (has DTS track missing from R2's)
Elizabeth (powerhouse performance from Cate Blanchett)
Half-Baked SE (decent stoner comedy with Dave Chappelle)
Carlito's Way Ulitmate Edition
In the Name of the Father
Gosford Park CE (Robert Altman film)
Jurassic Park 1, 2 & 3
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Far From Heaven
Midnight Run
Pitch Black DC w/ DTS
Session 9 - best release for extras, but missing the terrific DD5.1 track other releases. From Brad Anderson, director of The Machinist
Serpent and the Rainbow - Craven, R2UK is cut.
The People Under the Stairs - Craven
THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN
The Apostle - directed & starring Robert Duvall where he gives one awesome performance.
THE BIG LEBOWSKI CE - Cohen Bros
THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE - terrific Cohen Bros stab at the Noir genre.
THE LOST WEEKEND - Billy Wilder
MULHOLLAND DR - DTS track - Lynch
The Pianist - Polanski
The Thing CE - Carpenter
They Live (anamorphic & 2.35:1 OAR - all R2 releases are cropped to 2.10:1)
The Burbs
The Interpreter
Cat People - remake by Paul Schrader
The People Under the Stairs - Craven

Ah, yeah. The 5 secs of "cockfighting"

Never seen the film though. Story didn't appeal.

Pity DDD are selling the shitty old versions of The Blues Brothers and Jaws.

Bah!!

The only one I'm tempted by (oddly) is Elizabeth R1 (bettter than the UK R2 and R4) but as postage to the UK is cheaper at DVD Pacific I've just ordered it from them:

DVD Pacific: $12.44 Delivered
DDD: $13.58 Delivered

Thanks for reminding me though.

What! :D
Cape Fear 1991 Scorsese remake (only release with DTS)
Pity the Sale version is the 1 Disc version.

Both outstanding films: Elizabeth & Far From Heaven. I was tempted in these two but:

* Carlito's Way Ulitmate Edition - It's virtually the same as the CE
* The Apostle - The DVD's ancient and bloody non-anmorphic.

* In the Name of the Father - This btw is really overrated, it's okay but nothing special.

Gay, I didn't see that.
Carlito's Way Ulitmate Edition - It's virtually the same as the CE
I'd passed on that too becuz it was flipper and bought the R4, which is fine (anamorphic, DTS, 30ish min Bouzereau-produced doco).
The Apostle - The DVD's ancient and bloody non-anamorphic.
Still it's an excellent film though. Right up there with the best of other actor's personal projects - most notably Ed Harris's Pollock (terrific biopic of American New Wave painter Jackson Pollock) and Billy-Bob Thornton's Sling Blade (simply awesome!).

EDIT: There looks to be an anamorphic Scandinavian release, but I'll pass. I might just end up being a dud like the Scandinavian Nixon DVD.
In the Name of the Father - This btw is really overrated, it's okay but nothing special.
I'll judge for myself when I see it eventually. The 2nd in the trilogy is supposed to be really average, but The Boxer I hear is great.

I figured, that or a typo (somehow).

I thought so but it's bound to get a proper DVD and 1.85/78:1 I especially hate non-anamorphic. At least 2.35/40:1 blows up well.

Pollock was decent enough, overrated IMO though. I wouldn't say it's a keeper. Yep agreed, all it actually says is 16:9.

The Boxer is much better. How are they a trilogy? Oh a very lose one. What's the second? Fair enough do, it's not rubbish just not as good as it's made out to be.

The Jim Sheridan/Terry George Irish conflict trilogy:- In the Name of the Father, Some Mother's Sons, The Boxer.
