Fong Sai Yuk = Universe (Remastered) DVD vs Klock Worx DVD

Post by chenlung »

Universe DVD has an iffy but quite good remix and subtitles. It's cut, no mono or anamorphic.

Klock Worx is interlaced and has no English subtitles, but it's uncut, anamorphic, remastered for most part and contains mono (poor quality however compared to the great Japanese soundtrack which almost sounds like it was newly mixed).

Universe = R0 Hong Kong.
Klock Worx = R2 Japan.

How long is it cut by then? I never knew it was cut. I still own it (and Part 2) as they're still the only English friendly versions worth owning.

They both need remastering badly. Pity Universe never went through a remastering process like Mei Ah did.

At least the Remix isn't as bad as their Tai Chi Master one.

As for which I prefer they're both a mess but the Universe "just" has the edge.

What are HK Vidéo waiting for ?

They've got the rights, they've already restored it, they've shown a clip of it in the Tai-Chi Master extras...
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Wow! DD will likely re-release it so I'll be waiting for their release.

HKVideo's TCM was a little dodgy using artificial motion at certain points (during the credits), the image is a bit too bright and contrast may not be right either.
