No problem that's what old threads are for.Yi-Long wrote:Sorry for bumping this old thread back up, but I have the same question as Brad: Is the 3 disc extended version worth picking up?
I'll say this:
* Extras: It's a no brainer. Personally I'm not interested in watching them but I hear they're superb.
* No DTS: A shame but the DD5.1 is also decent at the end of the day.
* Film: Overall the EC has the edge over the DC (aka - TC) for a few nice new scenes (one in particular when Lucilla is visited in secret by two of the senators) which basically flesh out the film a little BUT it does also more 1 scene featuring Proximo just before a battle which is added when it's not needed. He talks about something which is perfectly adequately explained a few minutes later anyway. This unlike the other scene is just padding.
Like I said overall the EC has the edge but there's only a 0.5 mark in it.
I went for the R1 EC so I can have both cuts. TBH the BIGGEST difference is the extensive extras.
