Stup0rbit RIP

Post by EvaUnit02 »

Don't have all the details, however, Sony is going to place all Superbit titles into Moratorium.
I can only suspect it has to do with BD, however, who knows what Sony thinks. Certainly, my Superbit of Fifth Element is as good as or better than the BD version.
Just find the timing curious...and interesting.

Good riddance.

There were only ever a handful SBs which were worth it:

1. Starship Troopers - I hear this looks much better than the 2 Disc SE
2. Leon SBD
3. Fifth Element SBD - Called a UE
4. Black Hawk Down - The only one "really" worth getting. It's the only SB I own.

I can't think of any others.

I forgot that one good point. I own two SBs minus Leon and The Fifth Element.

Why because of DTS? It's debatable it's better when there is no commentary plus it's not the Extended Cut. I was referring to out and out winners not minutely better releases.
Lourdes wrote:CTHD
The quality increase is so minute (which most wouldn't notice anyway) it does not warrant putting up with the fucked up subs, or losing the extras.

Soon to get a proper Remastered SE. The rest I can't talk of.

[/quote]The DD5.1 on Das Boot DC is awesome, I'd imagine that the DTS track is better.

How can the Superbit be better than the Blu-Ray?

The original Das Boot has crappy dubtitles. Does the SB fix this?

You heard very wrong, I had it and sold it, its un noticable at all on anything less than a gigantic screen with amazing picture, even then it wasnt worth a few pennies more. On my TV I saw nothing at all, on my friends amazing set up it was barley noticable even after 30 minutes of trying to find differences.

In the end its bollocks. See for your self, dont listen to others I say, they talk shit.

The DTS is fantastic even though it's half-bitrate. Who cares about it not being the miniseries? Can't sit dwn and watch that in one go.

@jimmyscab
Don't know, I've never watched it with subs.

If the BD is messed up or has some AV problems it could be. The same way we have better or worse DVDs but agreed it's unlikely.

Grrr, really.
romerojpg wrote:In the end its bollocks. See for your self, dont listen to others I say, they talk shit.
It was you who told me :D , no way I'd buy it it's shit.

Huh? Who said you had to.
EvaUnit02 wrote:The Das Boot Director's Cut is damn perfection, who gives a shit about the mini-series?
Me. I'd like to at least see both to see for myself. I'm starting with the DC too. You may as well stick with the American Theatrical Cut then (not that it's on DVD).

Both the DC and TV Cut have worth. Besides the DC is a Theatrical DC, the TV Cut is also an alternate Director's Cut.

Why are you guys dismissing it outright? It's most uncommon.

Das Boot:-
R1 DC Superbit = English subtitles
R1 Mini Series = ???
R2/4 DC Superbit = English dubtitles
R2 Mini Series = English subtitles
If you want both versions like me, then buy R1 DC Superbit and R2 Mini Series.
Maybe R1 Mini Series has also subtitles instead of dubtitles.

source= dvdtimes

I can also confirm that the R1 DC regular edition has proper subtitles.

The R1 is a flipper though isn't it? The R4 only has German DD2.0 and the UK R2 is fine. It's one I have.
Thanks. In case I wasn't clear I meant in future too please.

Yes, but I really don't care since I got it for like $10nzd. Oh and chuck that R4 you have in the bin immediately and buy a copy of the DC with German 5.1 and proper subs, the 5.1 mix is awesome (director approved too).
Thanks. In case I wasn't clear I meant in future too please.

I said I have the UK R2. The best of the three, not a flipper + German DD51.

I tried but couldn't find it.

I only meant when you post the news you have the link on screen anyway but seriously if it's to much trouble don't worry I was only asking. Keep posting the news though.
