She was an idiot, to be honest. It's her own, or the radio station's fault.

It's not like water-poisoning is common knowledge. I mean, I knew it existed before this case, but many others didnt. They think drinking water is harmless, so they think the same about drinking lots of water.
Stupid? Yeah. Naieve, Hell yeah. Her own fault? Sure, cause no-one forced her. But the radiostation should have at least researched about the potential danger, and informing the participants of the potential hazzards.

If they did, then yeah, it's entirely the woman's own fault.

Still though, I feel sorry for her. She tried to win a Wii for her kids, not for herself. Even though the kids would be better of with a 360, it's still a shame she died for it...

That radiostation better give those left behind kids some Wii's btw...

The radio station should be completely liable for such an idiotic stunt, regardless of how foolish the contestants were to enter such a competition. The legal staff at that station clearly didn't do ANY research, or must not have even talked about it amongst themselves. If they had, SOMEOBODY surely would have remembered that only two years ago in the exact same state, a college boy died of water intoxication during a fraternity hazing incident. It was national news in the U.S. Apparently lots of listeners called in to tell the radio station that the contestants were experiencing symptoms that sounded like water intoxication and even reminded them of the kid who'd died two years ago. The radio station ignored them and just continued making fun of the contestants.

Complete idiots, and completely responsible for what happened. Supposedly about a dozen people have been fired at the station since this happened, but too bad it can't bring that woman back to life.

You're right. But then again, nothing would.

I agree with you 68Monkey. The woman was stupid, but the radio station should be held for responsible for running such a contest.
