Got caught speeding...

Post by BiscLimpkit »

...well I didn't. Someone else did.

I was a passenger in a company car, driving from Montrose to Aberdeen. There were three of us in total, I was sitting at the back. We got caught speeding - 44mph in a 30mph zone.

It was honestly such a pleasant experience. The police woman was dead polite and so kind. She explained everything nicely and even charged the driver with the "you have the right to remain silent...etc" speech. She even helped us get back on the road and waved us goodbye. :D

I tried really hard not to laugh, because the driver was absolutely raging. He even sped off at 40mph! I didn't say anything... but tbh, it's his own bloody fault. That's why I follow the speed limit always, no exception.

Speeders kill, so thats the right attitude Bisc :)

I dont speed either and personally I think the law should be far, far harder on speeders as if a family member of yours was killed and you were told they would have survived had the speeder been going 10MPH slower, as you can imagine it would be rather shitty.

I feel no pity for anyone caught speeding, its the idiots who argue that get to me.

A few years ago me, my friend, and a friend of my friend, went to play some football in a hall we rented out, a few cities away.
My friends friend drove, and he was being a bit of dick, speeding and such, and just driving recklessly.
I already told him to behave like a grown-up... but he wasnt really mature back then, maybe wanted to impress me or my friend or whatever...

Anyway, on the way back, he was speeding again, I again had warned him to just act normally, and when we went through a town I looked to my right (I was sitting up front btw, next to the guy...) and I saw police with the flashing stuff :D

2 minutes later we were standing still for a railway cross-over, and they quickly caught up with us and booked him :D I was pretty satisfied with that.

I spoke to the guy again btw a month or 2 ago, on a birthday party of my friend's brother... and at that party he was just genuinely a very nice guy and just acted normally. So that was nice. I really disliked him alot before, but now I think he's an OK guy.
I'm sure he hated me before as well, cause during a tournament (football) I was extremely pissed of at him and a mate for fucking up big time...

Sadly people don't realise 44MPH in a 30MPH zone is statistically more dangerous than 74MPH in a 60MPH zone. By far most accidents happen in a 30MPH zone.

They're just so fraught with dangers. My Mum funnily enough (not for her) was caught doing 44MPH in a 30MPH zone. I don't think she really got how dangerous it is. Your stopping distance with that extra 14 miles an hour is something like a third longer, in short good by little kid!

She know has 9 points on her licence. You only get 12 points (so can get caught 4 times before you lose your licence). I think they're on your file for 2 years each.

It gets more stupid for her when she would lose her job if she couldn't drive. She drives all over the country.

I got caught speeding last March for doing 38MPH in a 30MPH zone. Thankfully they know offer you a Speed Choice course (most Forces offer it to you) whereby if you're caught between 35-39MPH (literally just those speeds, 31-34 you may just get away with it) they offer you a course where you it costs £60 instead of the £60 but you don't get any points.

It lasts 3.5 hours and is pretty dull but actually worth while and saved me 3 points. You can only do it once in 3 years.

The funny thing is literally since I knew I'd been caught and a good 6 weeks before I did the course I completely changed my driving happens to not speed 99% of the time.

You're a liar if you say you never speed as that's not possible. Why? 1MPH is speeding, if you speed up for a few seconds you're speeding etc....

I simply don't speed any more. Touchwood I've not heard from the Old Bill since.

Oh and for the first 2 years of passing your test (I only passed a year ago next month) you only get 6 points so half the usual amount and if you lose your license instead of just later on re-applying you have to go through the entire theory and practical test again.

You literally start again.

Plenty of people do though.

My mate was caught for doing 110MPH on the Motorway (the speed limit is 70MPH, most people do 80MPH not that I would). I told him he was a right knob. Usually he doesn't speed either.

I gave up telling friends to slow down when I am in the cars with them, as most people wont listen to anyone, and one dick I knew turned off his lights and put his ofot down couase I complained as he was doing 40 in a 30  in the end he was doing 60 with no lights on

I have never been pulled over :D and dont think I ever will. But I have been in the car when others ahve and it feels very odd, 2 times with 2 police friends (they were both let off each time! and one was double the speed limit!) and 1 time with a normal person who got done for it, double standards police dicks!
