Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea (CC Final)

Post by grim_tales »

I didn't like the ugly end to the game at all, that was horrible - and I wonder how Terry is?
But as for the result, Drogba was the difference IMO and I can be proud of what the young team did out there today :) For most of the game Arsenal dominated and were all over Chelski. 1st goal looked offside, no faulting the 2nd though.

Tremendous game. Arsenal played incredibly well; some of the best passing moves I've ever seen in a match. The half-time stats were telling: no offsides and 23% of play took place in the Chelsea half.
The second half, well, that was a little different, wasn't it? Terry was unconscious before he hit the ground and then Chelsea had a few decent chances that had beaten the keeper but not the woodwork, but it paid off for 'em with that quality header. Drogba pissed me off royally last season, but I can't complain this time round. He's still arrogant for placing himself above Eto'o, but I suppose that comes with being a striker.
Arsenal eventually picked themselves up and started to put Chelsea under pressure again when that brawl broke out and as soon as that happened, it was all over for 'em. Shame really, but Chelsea obviously wanted to win, if for no other reason that for John Terry.

Yeah. The actual result doesn't bother me much really - Drogba made the difference I think, but Arsenal played some beautiful football in this game and throughout the cup, and Wenger showed how good he is when it comes to young players. Their second team took the game to the Champions which impressed me.
As you say Drogba's header was quality, Terry's injury was horrific, complete accident though Diaby was immediately on his knees seeing if he was all right, the other players were concerned as well, as for the brawl at the end - disappointing end to a great game.
Thought Mourinho was a bit of an arrogant c*ck in his interview though :D

Out of all competitions, knocked out of the FA cup by Blackburn, knocked out of the Champs League (in a ctuel twist of fate, the PSV defender gave us a lifeline with an own goal, then scored an excellent header himself).
We beat Villa the other day though, only got 3rd spot to go for now.
