Favourite cheese?
I quite like edam and brie. Chedder's alright but kinda dull tasting. What's everyone's favourite cheese? I presume those in the continent have a wide variety to choose from.

Re: Favourite cheese?
Cheddar is a solid cheese, reliable and good for sandwiches. It's your cheap plonk.
Brie and Stilton are very nice, they're your mid-range plonk
. I like most cheeses but smoked cheese I remember being pretty minging.
What's the expensive plonk of cheese? Well IMO that would be mozeralla, it's gorgeous hot/melted or cold. It's true the best cheese comes from France or Italy. Like most British food our cheese is functional, and tasty.

They have a weird cheddar in The States which doesn't really taste like cheddar and is red. They call it cheddar though, they have proper cheddar too.

Looking through my local supermarket I'd say it's about equal. Try getting cheese in the far east that's always fundBiscLimpkit wrote:I presume those in the continent have a wide variety to choose from.
Does it somehow taste different then? Blah Blah Blah. You know Cheddar is an English cheese don't you?Markgway wrote:I'm a Scottish Cheddar man myself. 8)

yeah i am. but i don't like cheese much, thinking of trying that "scheese" stuff which is vegan cheese. i don't eat much dairy foods really. i hate milk and never drink it, but i do use it sometimes in food, tho i prefer to use soy milk. i rarely ever eat eggs, tho i don't mind if they are in foods. i could be vegan...except i like milk chocolate too much
oh and we buy the mild cheese, i think its cheddar, i dunno i just know it says "mild" on it

Oh how could I forget mozerella and smoked cheese, mmm totally delish.
The Indian have a type of cheese called paneer. It's nothing like western cheese - it's used in curries. Really nice flavour.
I'm totally craving one of those cheese selection bags that you get from the supermarket.
Does anyone like that blue cheese? I find it immensely strong but if it's really mild, it can be quite nice.

Umm... there is of course English Cheddar of various kinds but I'm talking about Scottish Cheddar which AFAIK does have a different taste (and colour).bradavon wrote:Does it somehow taste different then? Blah Blah Blah. You know Cheddar is an English cheese don't you?

I meant Cheddar originates from England. A fact which no one (I'm sure they will) can contest.Markgway wrote:Umm... there is of course English Cheddar of various kinds but I'm talking about Scottish Cheddar which AFAIK does have a different taste (and colour).
As for the different variety of Scottish cheese, are you sure? It looks identical to me. There is yank cheddar and there is cheddar

Difference is probably negligable at best... might buy English and Scottish chedder next time and judge for myself.
When I worked in the States, we used to sell some Amish chedder, which was really nice - very crumbly and tangy.
Oh btw, I've thought of a cheese that I don't like at all - cottage cheese (yuk).
