MUMMY 3
Variety reports that Maria Bello (A History of Violence) will replace Rachel Weisz in The Mummy 3. She joins Brendan Fraser, Luke Ford, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh in the Rob Cohen-directed film for Universal Pictures. Bello will play Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell, the adventuress played in the first two films by Weisz. After Weisz declined to reprise, Cohen and the studio cast a wide net for a replacement. Written by "Smallville" creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, the film brings the O'Connells and their full-grown son (Ford) to the forbidden tombs of China and the Himalayas, where they battle a shape-shifting mummy, a former Chinese emperor (Li) cursed by a wizard (Yeoh). Sean Daniel, Jim Jacks, Stephen Sommers and Bob Ducsay are producing.
according to Jet Li he's doing more mainstream movies in order to help fund his monk in New York Film that the studios won't back. As for the No martial-arts I'm confused as hell, more so after reading his comments .....
Li meant no more wushu movies (as in period pieces that reflect his own philosophy). The media blew his quote out of proportion and made it sound like he would never throw a punch again.
Universal must've hired Cohen to prove the people who thought Stephen Sommers was the worst ever Mummy director wrong.
QFT. Mummy 1 was passable entertainment, but Mummy 2 was fucking terrible. An overcrowded mess loaded with God awful CGI (Remember The Rock scorpion CGI thingy at the end, or the dart shooting pigmy monkey thingies?).
