Director's Cut?

That's a bolt out of the blue.

I didn't even know there was anything cut?

I look forward to reading reviews. Mind you a DC of the worst directed action blockbuster of the 80s is ironic.

Whoa, this could be interesting.
Will it be a true DC though or will some crap scenes just be added like the "DCs" of Lethal Weapon 2 and 3.
But like Slasher says I cant wait for this :)
Guess I'll get rid of my R2 then....

@Mark:

Maybe this was cut originally - from IMDB:

During the scene in the shed, after Matrix cuts the soldier's arm off, he was originally supposed to hit the victim with it and tell him to shut up. This scene was edited out as being too macabre.

Will the uncut/DC version just be the same as the old uncut French/Dutch R2 release? Or will it include even more stuff? Still, I'd like to get this. One of my 80s faves which I used to watch about 5 times a week as a youngster. :D

The uncut/DC version will contain even more stuff Bruce. The Theatrical Version (I guess thats what you'd call it) will be the same as the French R2 release as R1 Commando was uncut - R1/European R2 are the same. They always have been. :)

Aren't those the same cut as the USA has always got? If so it will have to be two cuts without question.

Not quite. The UK (European) has always been cut ;)

That sounds hilarious... and yes, there is a jump cut even in the R-rated version. (The BBFC made it worse by removing the whole episode).

Most of us see the UK and Europe as seperate, especially when it comes to censorship. Yes, I saw the wink, just making a point.

Apparently, the makers of Toy Story were inspired by the deleted arm-slapping scene, and referenced it by having Woody hit Buzz with his own severed arm. Classic!

Yeah but I heard it is a bad transfer. Plus it's the first time it's in 5.1, if I'm not mistaken

I think the previous releases were 2.0 stereo as they should be.

The option of 2.0 should be there. Hopefully this new disc has it.

A lot of companies seem to be dropping original audio now even in the US.

And I don't think any of the HD/Blu-Ray titles have had anything less than 5.1

There's so much space on these fuckers that it wouldn't hurt to include multiple tracks.

Some Warner classic releases like The Searchers, Casablanca and Robin Hood do.

Good for Warners. There's no excuse for others not to do likewise. Sony's Blue-Ray of Rocky and The Terminator don't have mono for example.

I'm guessing as they're talky films whereas the others are action. Not the point but the pattern.

I believe Blazing Saddle has Mono too. It's never had anything to do with disc space.

Fair point on the Censorship but I'd disagree that "most" people consider UK separate from Europe. In fact I'm positive "most" people consider the UK to be part of Europe, it always has been. Every country is part of some continent.

Besides to say European implies 50 odd countries all have identical Commando DVDs when I doubt they do.

We talked about Taxi Driver quite recently. I've nothing more to say.

Technically yes, but I'm talking about the British vs European mindset, which is very different.

I meant roughly speaking. Stop being a bell-end!
