You're comparing the mindset of one nation against the mindsets of 50 odd countries? Wow I never knew they were "that" alike on the continent :D

I seriously doubt the French think the same as say Latvian's or maybe Estonian's ;) . In many areas I'd even say Western European countries think very much alike, putting us in with the French and Germans (who happen to like Brits).

p.s - Bell end hat off, if you wouldn't say such silly things I wouldn't need to use it :D

Europe as an entity is very different from Britain. I don't think we fit in. I'm sure the French and the Germans would like us to be more like them. As for other countries like Estonia? Who gives a fuck what they think? :D

Interestingly that's not now how the Irish think, who're also an Island but due to Ireland's status 15-17 years ago as Poor millions of EU money was given to it. It's changed their whole thinking.
Europe as an entity is very different from Britain.
To an extent, but at the same time we're also very much alike with our French and German distant cousins. But yes Britain is seen as the "awkard" country of the EU. One example being the Euro, which today I'm against. I wasn't when it was launched and in principle I think it's a great one, it's just our pound is just so strong. I'd hate to lose that.

Okay enough back to the overrated film that is Commando :D

Blazing Saddles was 5.1 only AFAIK. Ditto the DVD.

Speaking of Warners, I DEMAND a decent Enter The Dragon DVD

Yeah, they buggered up the soundtrack and stuck in those pointless Monk scenes.

I'd flog the 2-disc set for a nice remaster of the theatrical print.

I'm sure Bruce did dub the monk scene though (we've been through this before).
I'm sure I saw the theatrical version on VHS somewhere in a charity shop.

I didn't see this one coming. I've been wanting a good DVD of Commando for so long, that I just never thought it would happen. Finally! FINALLY! This is awesome. :D

Now, all we need is a decent True Lies DVD. I don't really care if it has extras, I just want a decent transfer and a DTS track. That's all.

It's probably expensive but the Japanese DVD has DTS (+ an exclusive little Making Of.). I don't now how the PQ compares against today's transfers though.

I presume you're referring to True Lies?

I always heard that the DTS laserdisc had an incredible audio track. Personally, I thought the DD 5.1 on the current DVD was pretty frickin' nice, but the transfer nearly looked like my old VHS copy. Sold it off quite sometime ago in the hopes that one day there would be a decent DVD.

That is, best transfer + uncut. I suspect the UK R2 and R4 have the same transfer.

I'd rather not go through it again but to clarify I am banned from DVD Times outright and just from logging in at DVD Forums. I can browse the forums you don't need to login, not that I do as there's not much left (bar Bargains).

I rather vocally disagreed with Colin's petty rules and Hitler(esque) stance. I forget the details as it was some 5-6 months ago. At first I missed it but now meh I've moved one.

p.s - How come it took you so long to notice?

Commando is better than Taxi Driver anyway. Bennet could assfook Travis in a heart beat, while wearing his gay chainmail. Stuff crap origanal sound, I want DTS!

deleted scenes

Post by dvdvision »

I'm sure you guys might be interested to see these... from my own collection, pics of the deleted flash back scene, the commando days.

Writer Steven de Souza posing with the original team, you will recognise the men getting killed at the beginning of the movie, here in full Commando mode. The first "garbage" killed man is between arnold and desouza, the second, car salesman, is between de souza and bearded man, bearded man seems to be Bennet aka Vernon Wells. Though he is hard to be recognised with the beard and the angle ? Perhaps a stunt double ?.

Doesn't look like Vernon Wells.

Maybe there were more commandos killed off originally?
