Wayne Rooney: Rolemodel or Potatohead?

Post by Markgway »

It irks me no end when I hear about this lumpen spud being talked about as a hero when his only talent is for kicking a ball. I would say the same of any player who is overadulated, but Rooney comes across as a particularly obnoxious and ill-educated chav. With his gold-digger girlfriend in tow, 100 fucks per match and a dubious liking for old pros, is this really the face of young Britain?

:D I agree with you Mark in the sense that despite being an obviously talented player, Rooney acts like an arse sometimes on the pitch, is rude and doesnt set a good example. Why? :? The guy should control his temper. Interesting this has happened since he joined Man U.. ;)

BTW I dont see the problem with calling him a hero, it can mean "possessing superior qualities in any field". ;) The original Greek word also applied to any person who was very good at their sport. :)

To me a REAL hero is someone who is willing to sacrifce themselves for the sake of others. To call these overpaid morons "heroes" is an offensive joke.

its a hard one this, if you are very good at something in the public eye then you inevitably become a role model. We (myself included) feel that prats like rooney should behave themselves better because of thisyet perhaps we are simply being unrealistic.

the fact is you can be massively successful and be a massive twat at the same time. politeness and common decency may be cpnsidered noble aims but there is no real incentive for youngsters to want these things when being popular and successful do not require them |(and in some cases hinder them)

so yes, rooney is a spud and a hero in the modern sense. the meaning of the word hero has been devalued much in recent years, just like being knighted, being canonised and any number of othr statuses to own.

Who is Wayne Rooney? A footballer?

Speaking of football. It's ironic how England spends billions on building a team full of supposed top players, yet haven't won the world cup since 1966. I imagine there must be some shame in knowing one sucks at a game which one invented.

Players like Rooney have a responsibility to provide good role models for the young fans who follow the game. He gets paid millions. The least the buggers can do is show some fucking decorum in public. If he wants orgies in his own home fine. But on the pitch and in the public eye he needs to be careful about what he's doing. OR... give up any pretence of
being a role model and be perfectly honest in saying "I do what I like and fuck the little shits who copy me". I don't personally believe footballers are role models. What exactly do they contribute to society? What do they contribute to their bank accounts. Plenty! Hpw does being good a kicking a ball make someone a desirable role model? Unless we as a society are saying it's best that kids grow up worshipping money and the media. Football is not about sportsmanship, it's about hard cash. Fact. This country needs to get a grip on our adulation of these paper heroes.

He ass-fucked my Cat. Don't think I don't know Rooney!!

Seriously, I believe he's an exceptionally poor role model for kids and gets paid an extortionate amount for kicking a bloody ball. Brain surgeons work all their lives for a fraction of that pay. Fair? What's to like about footballers? They need to grow the fuck up and be brought into line. Fact.

Nowt wrong with liking the game. And sure anyone would take the money. It's the ones who pay it who are to blame. I just find Britain's obsessive love affair with footballing celebrities a real source of nausea. The very least they can do is behave properly in public. But these apes are not even capable of that much.
