What are your thoughts on this?
Personally, I hate to see him leave. I've always found him a great coach, and I quite enjoyed his personality as well. He spoke his mind, was often very honest, and was usually right, even when it sounded perhaps arrogant.
It's a shame that he's now gone. He really brought an end to the Man Utd and Arsenal dominance, and turned a formerly rich but underperforming club to the very top, turning them into winners.
I seriously doubt a new manager can manage to do as well as Mourinho did. Mourinho really turned alot of very rich, overpayed players into 1 team that was willing to battle hard and WIN. Plus he was quite clearly the most important person at the club, as in there was no player above him.
It's a shame to see such a colorfull character leave.
Wouldnt surprise me btw if he would now take a coaching position at a rival club, and create a team that will battle for the championship.
Mourinho and Chelsea split.

Was that the game where chelsea scored a goal that wasnt given!?
Anyway, I love the guy. He always sticks up for his players, unless they're wrong. he's pretty damn honest and speaks his mind. He feels he shouldnt censor himself. plus he's usually pretty decent.
I remember when he got all that shit with the Rijkaard incident. He accused Rijkaard of influencing the ref during the break, which resulted in a debatable decision in the 2nd half. Rijkaard and everyone else strongly denied so people were bitching about Jose beinga sore loser and lying and everything... and a few weeks/months later it turns out that what Mourinho complained about was spot-on, and that Rijkaard did attemp to enter the ref's dressingroom etc.
Also, Jose also was man enough to wait at the tunnel before the game until Rijkaard game out, and have the decency to shake hands and wish him luck etc. Not many coaches do that. But he made a point of standing there waiting.
Plus I loved it when Chelsea had lost an important game, and some Chelsea fans were booing, and he went right up to the stands and grabbed Terry and the others and demanded the fans showed them respect (the chin-gesture) and they could walk proud with their heads up.
He's just a great coach. I'd much rather have Jose as a coach as opposed to shouting Fergie, or mumbling pouty Arsene who never sees anything his own players might do
Just a great coach, who stood by his players, and above them. Which is very difficult with such a team.
I'm not a Chelsea fan, and I doubt I ever will be... but at least he made them play much better football than Chelsea has ever played in MY lifetime. It was nice having a 3rd 'superteam' in the PL.

He's been a fine coach but I also found him an arrogant c*ck at times TBH, though he was quite funny
Yi didnt Claudio Ranieri help Chelsea do well too? He had most of the players, got them to their highest league position in 50 years and all Mourinho did was inherit a pile of money and biught 2 titles.

Raniery was a pretty crappy coach I thought. Always rotating and the football his Chelsea played was very defensive and just not very good. Plus he wasnt above his group, he didnt seem like a real 'leader'. Mourinho came, and there just is no question as to who's the boss.
And yeah, he seemed cocky at times, but it kinda helps to not take that stuff overly serious. Often he was right, and you could also tell that he actively caused some controversy to get the attention and press off his players, and onto himself...
And I thought he was hilarious. I remember when Ferguson mentioned you cant BUY success, and Mourinho noted that Ferguson was right, as Mourinho's Porto had only a fraction of the budget Man Utd had, when his Porto beat them
Damn, I'm gonna miss that guy.
Plus it kinda damages any succes of the other title candidates. IF Arsenal now manage to win the league, there will be people who will say that it's because Chelsea lost their great coach etc.

Ow yeah, obviously. I think Wenger did the right thing, letting Henry go.grim_tales wrote:Good point, I know what you mean. But I'm sure there will also be those who its because Arsene Wenger does wonders with young players
Tactically I often have my doubts about Wenger. But there's no denying he can make young players better, and make them play gorgeous, quick-passing football at times. Allthough maybe if he could also instill that must-win mentality in them sometimes, that some guys like Gerrard and Terry etc have... it would be even better.
But it's always better to win a league when your opponents are also at full strength, as opposed to winning a league cause your opponents messed up.
