It's not an American film.

The clothes, the look and the office background, the people too make it look like a European film, possibly American.
thelostdragon wrote:It's not an American film.
Yes it is. To use the name of the country which financed it as "the" country makes it very unfair for people to guess. It's not fair to be sneaky to make it harder for people to guess!

Don't you think naming The Machinist Spanish points people in completely the wrong direction? Just because there is some minute connection linking it to Spain.

The original title of the film is "El Maquinista". It was entirely shot in Spain and about 90% of the crew members are Spanish. Also go to the film's IMDB page, scroll down and check the country of origin.

Stop acting like a tit brad, the film's a Spanish production so slasher answered that when he was asked for the country of origin. He obviously wasn't being "sneaky".

Could still be an Asian film, though.

Except he didn't. LD answered. LD may not have been sneaky but don't you think naming it as Spanish would make it wildly harder to guess?

Besides if you're going to be a tit (back at you) then don't pick me out alone. Grim also said it was American but I guess he's allowed to disagree? :? . Typical hypocritical Shingster at play.

Since when was IMDB considered fallible?
thelostdragon wrote:Could still be an Asian film, though.
Of course but I was willing to bet it wasn't. That first capture just makes it look like it wasn't shot in Asia or is an Asian film.

Honestly? I don't. That's why I wrote
thelostdragon wrote:Want me to give the country away? Might be pretty easy to guess then.
Everybody knows it's a Spanish film. And those who assume that it is an American film, only do so because it has American actors and because it takes place in the USA. But saying it is a Spanish film makes the answer so obvious. Why? Because name me another recent Spanish film with mostly American actors.

"The Last Samurai" is a Japanese film, too. And "Passion of the Christ" is Aramaic. :D
