1. Suspiria, anyone? - fucking atrocious remix and no original stereo
2. The Bedroom Window got laserrot and fucking died.
It was Romero who said he owned over 100 AB DVDs and also said "most stunning examples of how to make a dvd". Which I'd disagree with, they're perfectly okay though, on the whole.
I said "most" DVDs get the original soundtrack so point 1 is void. Laserrot doesn't affect all DVDs, even of the same release, point 2 is also void. I've never owned a disc which has it period. Suspiria is shit anyway, with a fucking atrocious dub (why would anyone want to watch it "this" way?). It would be fucking atrocious no matter what audio format is used.
According to Rewind some of the AB DVDs have English DD2.0:
That was a different sentence. I'd have thought someone with your intellect Eva would have noticed. Of course it matters, all films should be given the best possible DVD.
Suspiria has some great sequences and atmosphere, but the script is awfully thin and my tastes lean more twoard giallo than fantasy. My favourite used to be Deep Red, but I ddin't enjoy it as much last time, which is why I'm selling it. I'd now say Tenebre is Argento's best film.
Suspiria is awesome, Brad must be the only person on the planet not to like it.
I'm very happy with Anchor Bay dvd. I don't kow it there are some audio cliches but please don't tell me if there are. I don't want to know. The italian mono sounds good to me and I don't want that to change
I never cared that much for Profondo rosso but Tenebre is good. It's my third favourite Argento, Phenomena being number two.

You can't make a statement like that and expect me not to respond!
1. Suspiria should be seen in English, which is the intended audio language.

2. The 5.1 remix messes up the sound levels.
Ah, I'm so happy you're only commenting the english tracks which I couldn't care less

I seriously doubt that. I doubt the general public for instance would put up with the ghastly English dub.
Only if 'general public' equals to 'Brad and Romero'. And that would be pretty scary.

You must be mistaken I'll correct it for you:
"Erm... Jessica Harper... Joan Bennett... Alida Valli... the three main actresses all spoke Engrish."
There is no excuse to dub anyone anyway. Only a sloppy director does that. If your supporting cast cannot speak the required language fine others who can. Especially when we're talking "supporting" cast.

That's funny I don't recall ever seeing Suspria in any general top 100 let alone top 10. "The only person" I think not

Engrish?? What are you talking about?

I believe the films were shot without sound.

Mostly they could, it's just that the accents were too thick, and finding name actors from the west to fill every small part would've cost too much for an Italian prod. company.
But I don’t really know where to look for ”respectable” lists because I’m not familiar with horror genre. But Suspiria is one of the horror movies I always hear mentioned when people are talking about the best horror movies ever made. I also don’t recall reading too many reviews that didn’t give it 5/5 or 10/10.
Brad, you do realise that for several decades the majority of Italian films were made without sync-sound? Mainly because it was impractical/uneconomical. Even arthouse ones, Fellini loved making up dialogue after the fact.

Likewise Hong Kong companies have been doing the same. Suspira is a cool surreal film, I have the limited edition, happy with it. Like the Goblin soundtrack, but really I think you have to be a horror fan to enjoy the movie.
