The Wispa is back!

Post by grim_tales »

Eighties favourite - the Wispa - is back by popular demand.

Cadbury has agreed to re-launch the chocolate bar in response to calls from internet campaigners.

It is putting around 23 million Wispas on sale from this week, four years after the bar was dropped due to declining sales.

More than 14,000 Facebook members lobbied the confectionary giant to "bring back Wispa".

Online campaigns were also held on social networking sites Bebo, MySpace and YouTube.

Wispa bars were launched as trial product in the Tyne Tees area in 1981 and rolled out nationally two years later.

Their return has been welcomed by actress Rula Lenska, who appeared in one of the original Wispa commercials alongside then-husband Dennis Waterman.

She said: "It is bringing back an iconic thing from the Eighties due to huge public demand. It was certainly my beloved chocolate bar then and I was devastated to see it go. But as so often happens, the good things do tend to come back in a circle."

Describing the 1980s, she added: "It was probably one of the happiest times of my life. I knew who I was, my career was going well and I had a young, very beautiful daughter. It was a really great time for music, fashion, everything really."
I had a couple the other day - so much nicer than Dairy Milk Bubbly. :D

This was announced on the news months back??? Maybe it took this long to bring them to market.

Sure they're nice but it's just chocolate. They don't different really from other bars. I'm not really a chocolate person. I adore crisps though. Those are my chocolate.

Man some people are sad.

Not really a fan of Cadbury's chocolate.

Very dry for my buds.

For your buds???

I like Cadbury's chocolate, it's no better or worse than anything chocolate though. It doesn't say any drier.

I bet it was young students who partitioned online.

What green bogees and black heads?

Ah. I've also heard people say their buds when they mean their ears, which would've course be gross. Unless Mark has a fetish for putting chocolate in his ears.

Saw the Wispa is back. YAY!!!

My fave chocs are Wispa, Galaxy, Dairy Milk Biscuit, Malteasers and any combination of chocolate and orange. I'm also partial to Welsh Chocolate Toffee Waffles!

Give me your address and I'll post you all the orange chocolatey muck in my area your way :D

I especially cannot stand Terry's Chocolate Orange, the advert is funny though. While we're on the subject I've never understood why anyone would like Cadbury's Creams, yuck!

Yeah, Chocolate Orange is wonderful. They recently did a Chocolate Orange Mint, which doesn't sound too tempting

Hope they revived Wispa Mint, Gold and Biscuit

Turkish Delight isn't a chocolate ;) .

I quite like "Fry's" Turkish Delight. It tastes virtually nothing like real Turkish Delight though, which has no chocolate and a completely different texture. I love real Turkish Delight, especially from Turkey.

I love Mint chocolate, especially After Eight Mints, Yumm, yumm. Bounty's are lovely too. Dark Chocolate is pretty nice too. My Dad is allergic to milk so we used to get that quite often as kids (it has much less milk).

Don't really like that either (Fry's), also not a fan of nuts but I do like praline centres. Real Turkish Delight is quite nice though.

How pretentious?

I only eat a French Pastry if it's made in France.

I get Tom to export them for me.
