Me too, like I care. I'm not a fan of the books and if I was so what? Besides it's a bit late now she's written the ruddy books. Why didn't she mention it in the actual story?

I had to doublecheck that this wasn't a joke, what a stupid thing to say AFTER you're done writing the books.

Yeah, I know! Maybe she hopes people will reread them again (only this time look for homoerotic subtext) :D

"I'm so sorry Harry" said Ron, looking crestfallen. "I thought you felt the same way..."

It wasn't like she called a press conference for it. She had given a book talk and was asked during the Q&A if Dumbledore had ever found true love. I guess the subtext is there in the books, but was never stated. So she stated it. She kind of laughed it off, saying it's one more reason the Christian Right would hate her.

I guess the only other time she's "confirmed" this is when she was reviewing the script for the Half-Blood Prince. There was a reference to a former female love interest of Dumbledore's, so Rowling passed a note to the director that Dumbledore didn't swing that way.

Did she actually say that? I'd imagine that would alienate many American fans.

She laughed during the discussion, but didn't name the Christian Right, specifically. She stated that not everyone likes her work, and this would give "them" one more reason. It's well-known in America that many fundamentalist Christians do not like the series and have refused to allow their children to read the books at home or in school.

Interesting thanks. Why btw?

I don't think any British Christian fundamentalists have aired their negative opinion. I'm pretty sure American Christian fundamentalists tend to be more vocal though.

I don't know much about the stories. I presume there is religious subtext. That's what I meant ;)
