I got my CC statement today and found someone had made a purchase of £450 (!) Except it wasn't me.
How could this have happened? I'd think I'd remember spending that much
I rang up the CC company and I've had to get a new card now, and a fraud confirmation letter will be sent out.
Something called Speedkarting Ltd.. go-karts?
Just the usual DVD sites Slasher, Sendit, Play, Amazon zshop, CD-WOW etc..
No idea what it is.. Speedkarting Ltd do exsist, I went to their site and tried signing in, but I got "Your email address is not recognised" so clearly I didnt make a purchase like that.

It's happened because people like to hack credit cards. Seriously I wouldn't worry. One the letter arrives fill it in and you'll get your money back. There wasn't any need technically to get a new card.
I've had my card hacked 2-3 times and each time got my money back. I've not bothered getting a new card. See Salty's thread.
Really your card and mine haven't been hacked as that would be probably impossible but they're got your details from somewhere and used them. This should be harder now with the new online card protection, whereby you enter a password/pin number when you use your card online.
Are you sure they've closed your account? That cannot be right. They cancelled the card but there is no need to close the whole account. If so they'd have to set you up a new account.
It's the card details the hacker uses not your actual account. A new card would give you new card details.
