Yeah is quite a shock!! I heard channel 4 have removed Countdown as a mark of respect.

I think Countdown should possibly be stopped permanently now, cause part of the great fun of it was Richard's terrible jokes etc!

Yeah, won't be the same without his bad puns.

I remember one edition from this year where there was an excellent little boy (8 years old or something), who won twice, got 1 9 letter word and the condrum (got almost 100 points in 1 game) and made up rude words like "fannies" and stuff

I've read on Teletext today that Des Lynam is likely to take over as Countdown host soon.

I'm not sure what to make of that as Richard Whiteley WAS Countdown, but wouldnt he want the programme to carry on?
If this happens, Lynam must be himself in the chair, not try to be like Richard (if you see what I mean).
IMHO anyway.

Lynam is to take over as Countdown host next month (I think).

He will start presenting Countdown on 31 October.
