Anyway, I enjoyed had a good day yesterday. (Only had a quiet immediate family lunch today.) My brother is up to his eyeballs in debt (from living the bachelor life style, spending all his cash on expensive gadgets like $2000+ SLR cameras and $500 lenses.), even though he has six figure salary (I saw him doing his internet banking the other day and he only had a $500ish balance.), so we had the wedding at the court house (he didn't even buy a ring for himself, only the bride).
Afterwards we all had dinner at a Chinese western fusion buffet restaurant (on my mum's coin
), 'twas good. Afterwards went back to my grandfathers for drinks, chit-chat and fireworks.
My maternal uncle and his annoying Australian wife flew in from Sydney for the wedding, as did the bride's mother from China (apparently she served in Mao's red guard in 60's.).

I got no DVDs as I specifically asked not to be given any. I'm trying to get through the DVDs I have, reduce my collection and I want things on HD now anyway. Which cost a bomb in the shops so I wouldn't ask people give me those, plus getting the right HD Disc is even more complicated than the right DVD.
I didn't get any WOW presents as I have most things I need. I got money for my birthday and some more for Xmas so that was cool, which has all but paid for a new MP3 Player I've got on order. So I guess that's my WOW present.
I did get a 1MP digital camera from my Grandmother, bless her she tries
. I've got more presents on Thursday though. I've not had my Dad's yet.
At my Sister's wedding my Dad forked out about £10,000 and her husband's parents literally just bought the flowers. They have three sons, lucky them!
. I hope I marry a rich lady

Shouldn't the wife buy his ring, yes/no? Interesting story though.so we had the wedding at the court house (he didn't even buy a ring for himself, only the bride).

I don't believe in fancy weddings myself.bradavon wrote:At my Sister's wedding my Dad forked out about £10,000 and her husband's parents literally just bought the flowers. They have three sons, lucky them!. I hope I marry a rich lady
In fact I'd prefer a low key affair: a quick trip to the registary then a smallish reception in a hotel.
Cost: a few hundred quid.

It's not my cup of tea either but then neither is the registry office. Some mates of mine did that and it was anything but romantic. It's a special day so you need to make some effort.
£10,000 on one day is just crazy to me but then like I said I wouldn't go to the registry office either. Something in the middle. It gets more crazy when you know my sister was given the choice of £10,000 towards a house or £10,000 for one day.
