I don't doubt that many film fans 'see' things they never actually have. But until I'm proven wrong I have to stand by what I remember (or believe to remember).

WTF! That is plain dumb . Surely you should stand by the evidence? And as far as I can tell, there is none.

I don't know about film fans, but Shing is right, it's quite common for people to imagine having seen more than they did. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a classic example. There's hardly any graphic violence in the film, but it's so well made, and the film is so intense, that after the screening people often think they saw something that they actually only imagined. When you cut at the right moment, and accompany with the right sound effects, your mind easily completes the image.

There are several historical murder cases where people remember seeing something that never happened too.

Ordinarily these days a BD transfer of a contemporary film would be struck from the digital intermediate, but Dark Knight has IMAX sequences and the BD seems like it could very well have been struck from an IMAX print instead. They wouldn't usually go to a theatrical print unless the original negatives/intermediate/interpositives are lost or unusable

I still haven't watched my BD (haven't even watched Begins yet) and forgot about the IMAX sequences (I just know that the 1.78 framing is going to irk me). When I saw the film theatrically it was the standard 2.35:1/35mm print.

There's no evidence I didn't see it either. My statement makes perfect sense - if you've been paying attention to the debate. I don't expect you to believe me - and I'm sure you don't - but I believe myself! And if evidence does come to light in future that proves me wrong I will own up immediately. There's no shame in being wrong only in refusing to admit being wrong.
