Likely cuts made to The Dark Knight DVD.

Post by Markgway »

http://www.melonfarmers.co.uk/news.htm#Dark_Days_3087

I do remember that in the cinema version it's clear what The Joker does with the knife. The audience winced at that moment (as they did with the pencil impaled in the eye) and I found myself amazed that the BBFC passed such violence in a '12' certificate.

But who made the cuts? The BBFC list the video as "uncut" so maybe the distributor (Warners) trimmed it to ensure the same low rating?

I'd prefer it if they were the same, I'm sick of the UK being screwed over. If we get a fractionally bastardised version of the film, then America can too for my peace of mind.

So all versions are censored/cut?

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

No you didn't. Like I already said you twat. Your link, following your instructions already says:

Fat lot of good that is. You need to post "direct links" you dumb fuck (using the Perm Link on the right). To think you reckon I'm the awkward one .

It looks like that's the case yes or at least the UK/USA versions.

Given that BD doesn't rely on PAL/NTSC it makes sense from Warner's point of view to use the same BD Master everywhere.

I rechecked and my link takes you to the last page - at time of originally posting - which is where the conversation about cuts began - and that's good enough unless you're a moron who can't scroll down - or Brad; which is probably the same thing anyways. Taking you to the last post is useless since you'll have to go back to read the rest. The last post alone has no context. Twat.

What a load of arse over nothing then. I seriously doubt you'd have even noticed Grim. You'll probably pause it and watch out for it now but if no one had told you you'd be happy as larry.

I understand when obvious cuts are in place but cuts such as this that virtually everyone wouldn't spot anyway, I don't get the big deal.

I wonder why it was cut though? It's not like this is one of the most violent scenes.

I'll probably have forgotten most of TDK when I pick the DVD/BD and by then I'll be fine ;)

And statements like that are exactly the reason why these companies think its ok to cut films, when it is NOT.

My main gripe with the BD is that there is a lot of edge enhancement on the 35mm shots. Not great. But the IMAX shots look amazing.

That would assume they read forums, like this and they don't.

Warner are so big they don't care what the Average Joe says, especially when 1 person in a 100 gives a monkeys.

someone elsewhere said the scene in question was in the trailer but not in the finished cinema version anyway.

Really? IM does the Joker say "Why so serious?" on the DVD version? In the cinema version I'm sure it doesnt show all the details but its pretty obvious what he did.
