Around The World In 80 Days question

Post by degeneration »

This is to anyone that has seen the film, is there any other language other than English spoken in the film?

Cause there is a really cheap 2 disc edition of the film available at ethai

http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=15879&asso=1269

But the english subs won't be automatic for the non-english language scenes if there are any. And I can't be arsed, I don't think, switching them on and off...

Yup IIRC there's a little Mandarin spoken...

...not sure but maybe some Hindi too...

...as well as other languages... :what:

98% English though... I think...

As it's "roughly" 2% non-English putting the subs on manually wouldn't put me off. That is a decent price.

Having said that it is missing some of the extras.

Yes but you will have to know where the subs are required! and probibly will have to rewind and put em on then turn em off when you think its over, pointless! when this film will be 2.99 in UK and america whithin months as its such a GIGANTIC FLOP!

Thats' no big deal IMO, its happened before - on Who Am I? there was no seperate subtitle track for the section with the African tribe and when other languages were spoken.
So you have to press the "subtitle" button a few times. Pfff. :)

The subs are burnt in on the UK R2 DVD it seems, there is a seperate track for them.

Why would anyone want to buy this film??? :P

OK. I did laugh out loud once. When the old lady falls off a wall. But that maybe my offbeat sense of humour. I can think of about 30 Jackie movies better than this one and that includes The Medallion!! ;)

Nooooooo I adore this movie... it's one of my favourite Western Jackie Chan titles... to say it's worse than The Medallion makes me cry...:(:(:(

But then you added the wink so I think you're taking the P. pfewf! :D

I'm not actually. The wink was to represent the fact that so few people like The Medallion. I'm making myself sound like a fan. I'm not. I just thought it was OK for what it was (and bearing in mind the post-production chaos). Around the World... wasn't as bad as I expected, seriously, but it was pretty lame considering the money wast, er, spent. The only good performance in the entire film was from Jim Broadbent. OK, Karen Mok was fine too.
