Match Point

Post by BiscLimpkit »

Aye so what's the deal with this? It's opening here in Aberdeen as of Friday. I hear the rest of the country has had this for a week?

It has Scarlett Johansson so... mmm.... delish.....

Edit: I just found out that it's a Woody Allen movie and it's been getting a lot of praise. Surely this is good news for us all?

Scarlet's a bit up her own arse for my taste... but Woody deserves time and respect. Might catch up with this on DVD.

You mean how she behaves onscreen? Or offscreen?

Cos I thought she was pretty cool in The Island...

I'm not sure about off screen and I don't really care but on screen she has great range and diversity for someone her age.

I've heard very good things about this; Mark Kermode didn't think much of it though.

Fantastic film!!!

It's a very intense romantic thriller. There is a distinct lack of music so the attention is always focused on the visuals and remarkably stern performances from the stars. The pacing is fluid but there are large chapter gaps. Sometimes weeks or even months pass randomly. However it was still great fun to watch and it's good to see a British setting with some fine local actors.

Were any of you guys offended by the stereotyped portrayal of snooty upper-class Englishmen?

I'd like to see this film, given the good reviews + liking some of Allen films. Plus not only is Scarlett uber-hot, but she can also act... Rhys-Meyers is a good actor too.

Not really as I live in Scotland. I reckon it was a fairly accurate portrayal though. :o :D
